Ben Nevis Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2013, 12 Year Old De-char re-char HHD/ 247 bottles 54.9% ABV Artwork by: @KMGYEAH Nose: Gentle islay peat provides the backdrop for this whisky, with lemon curd, soft red apples and red grapes coming forward. Milk bottles and a touch of eucalyptus. Beneath all of this, you have a malty sweetness, like porridge oats that you forgot to stir. Palate: Baked red apples, lemon meringue pie, olive oil, baby Caol Ila, quite industrial with machine oil notes and a slight metallic edge. Finish: White pepper, kiwi, green grapes and Maldon salt Non-chill filtered and natural colour. This spirit may haze at low temperatures and under dilution.

Manufacturer information: This Ben Nevis single malt was distilled in 2013 and matured for twelve years in a de-char/re-char hogshead before being bottled at a robust 54.9% ABV. Limited to just 247 bottles, this bottling combines the distillery's distinctive style with an exciting balance of fruity, lightly smoky, and spicy-mineral notes. It is bottled at its natural color and without chill filtration; the label artwork is by @KMGYEAH.

I agree with peatjens. Typical Nevis, not my preferred type of Whisky though. No deep layers to detect, the alcohol is strong in this one. Tasted 7.8.2026 in The Malt Room, Inverness.
