Ledaig 24 Year Old 2001 Highland Laird 53% 70cl A rather exciting release here from independent bottler Highland Laird – a Ledaig bottling aged for 24 years in a single ex-bourbon hogshead. Distilled at island maker Tobermory in 2001, the peated expression has spent its years gaining complexity and elegance. And with the cask yielding just 189 bottles, it’s a rare treat indeed. Official tasting notes: Nose: Coastal smoke, sea spray, and briny peat. Palate: Bold and oily, with waves of peaty smoke, seaweed, and charred oak. Hints of lemon peel, white pepper and ever so slight salted caramel. Finish: Long and warming. Lingering bonfire smoke, sea salt, and gentle sweetness leave a lasting impression.
