Secret Speyside Distillery 1998 LBDS

Very Secret Speyside 26 Year Old 1998 Little Brown Dog 50.2% 70cl A frankly stunning ‘secret’ Speyside release from celebrated independent bottler Little Brown Dog (we have it on reasonable authority that it’s Glenlivet). The single malt was distilled back in 1998 and has been maturing ever since in a single bourbon barrel. As the LBD team says, they don’t often bottle expensive whiskies. But the cask came as part of a parcel and, on tasting, they couldn’t resist it. Just 245 bottles will ever be released, and there’s something celebratory about the vibrant chocolate, coconut and fancy pear notes. Delightful. Official tasting notes: Nose – Beaumes de Venise, candy floss, bounty bars. Palate – Crème brulé, poached pears and grand cru Malibu if such a thing were to exist. Finish – Toasted coconut and fizz wizz popping candy.
