Duffzilla is in town. For Whiskyland locals, it's that time of year again. Every year he plods along the distillery trail, merry as you like, lumbering about with his selfie stick. The usual debates and chat about a 'Duffzilla Tax' and 'this is no longer a Whiskyland for the locals!' can be heard fizzing away in the local Whiskyland hostelry. This special single cask of 1991, 34-year-old Dufftown has been specially bottled for Duffzilla Season. Matured full term in a refill bourbon barrel and bottled at natural cask strength, it's precisely the sort of dram that keeps Duffzilla coming back year after year... Nose: Bright and super fresh, subverting expectations about the age. But then abundant honey notes, along with citrus and green fruits, emerge. Luscious and also brimming with a sense of texture. Palate: Old and young simultaneously! Fresh fruits, flower nectars, runny honey, crystallised exotic fruits and hints of cedar and sandalwood. Gorgeous and multilayered old Speyside malt. Finish: Long, with classical waxiness, dried flowers, lemon rind, mineral oil and herbal tea.
