Pittyvaich 1990 DeDr

I venture to guess this was slightly past its prime, but it does offer a flavour profile that is quite unique.

from a sample. Wouw, a beautiful subtle dram, that's got a lot of layers. Despite the relatively low abv, it's rich / full of flavors. I'm keen on trying this whisky in a blenders glass with plenty of time.

Decadent Drinks: The Spirit Sprites of Whiskyland are always searching. Not for glory, or treasure, or even paperwork. Mostly they look for the quiet things. The forgotten corners of warehouses, the slow creak of ancient oak, the faint glow that only very old casks seem to give off when left alone for long enough. That is how they found this one. A solitary 1990 Pittyvaich, now 35 years old, resting patiently inside a first fill sherry hogshead. Its distillery long gone, its siblings scattered across the whisky world, this cask simply lingered in the shadows of Whiskyland a little longer than most. Inside, decades of patient slumber. Sultanas, figs and prunes, wrapped in soft tobacco, cedar wood and old Armagnac richness. The gentle 44.3% carries everything easily: crystallised honey, fir resin and pipe tobacco, finishing with herbal bitters, wax and lingering dark fruits. A quietly beautiful old dram. One more lonely cask gently guided out of the dark and into Whiskyland.

This seems like a relatively straight forward and linear bottling for Whiskyland. Undoubtedly quality and manages to also showcase some honeys and waxes whilst being 1st fill sherry matured but it’s not my preferred style. Comparing to the Tamnavulin Whiskyland 31 which also isn’t my style but that one has stolen my heart. That’s a red and purple fruit bomb with coffee, chocolate, Christmas cake deluxe sipped on leather couches with a cigar… just spectacularly good 92
