Waxiness is a mysterious but essential character of so many whiskies. In Whiskyland, the responsibility for it's successful imbuement lies with Max Wax. He's one of Whiskyland's most dedicated, dogged and unashamedly geeky public servants. We don't quite know what he gets up to in the stillrooms, worm tubs, spirit receivers and warehouses, but we know he's been responsible for some of Whiskyland's greatest waxbombs over the years. This utterly luscious 1989, 36 year old Cragganmore that has matured its whole life in a simple refill hogshead, is one of the finest example of his artistry.

Very fruity and drinkable - very good!

Нос	90	Honeycomb, ripe orchard fruits, nectar, little citric, spices, wet hay, apricot, peach, apple, some minerals, hint of oak wood - pretty good!
Вкус	91	Punchy, oily, very fruity, more ripe orchard fruits, honey, good sweetness, spices, pepper, oak wood, citric, little vanilla, cloves, hay - even better!
Финиш	91	Medium long, warm, fruity, spices, pepper, oak wood

A delicious old whisky. Cragganmore has never been my go too, but I really appreciate this. Lovely malty dram that holds up given its age. Tasted from a 10ml sample.

Dense, Waxy-as-hell, contender for my dram of the year. Soft orchard fruit that never feels overly dominant, yuzu, light citrus though. Thick, unctuous, its a beast.

Nose Citrus, cereal, barley, black pepper, sweet corn, waves of honey Palate Citrus, big and waxy, vanilla, pepper, honey, malt biscuits, scotch fingers, shortbread Finish More of the same with a Drying and malty quality Just gorgeous. Amazing. Maybe the waxiest modern whisky I’ve ever had.
