This is a richly textured Teaninich, where indulgent fruit and spice intertwine with the influence of Pineau des Charentes. The nose opens with warm stewed apple, its soft sweetness complemented by honeyed sultanas and a dusting of brown sugar. A hint of cracked black pepper adds depth, cutting through the richness with a gentle warmth. The palate is a balance of velvety red fruits and lively spice, where juicy raspberries and strawberries meet the darker warmth of spiced oak. The wine's influence is significant: apple compote, fresh and stringy red berries, candied lemon, cinnamon tart, brown sugar, Muscat grapes, fermented cherries, liquid chocolate, red bell peppers—it's pastry-like and a touch indulgent. On the palate, it's creamy, with beetroot hummus, raspberry coulis, wild strawberries, woody notes, hairspray, vibrant spices, cardamom, ginger, and nutmeg. The finish is quite long and complex, with woody spices, pepper and cloves, and drier fruits like dates, prunes, and mirabelle plums. It takes you into the heart of the wood, without being bitter.
