This single malt is deep and assertive from the off. Polished wood and burnt caramel on the nose give way to bitter orange peel and a savoury, peppery intensity. At full strength the concentration is striking, all burnt toffee and dark fruit with real backbone; water and a little bit of patience are essential. Fresh apricot, honey and a rich, oily texture emerge once the spirit is diluted slightly. Over time, the transformation from first pour deepens further, leaning fully into apricot fruit notes with a softness that belies the strength.
