The Second Witch is one of devious mannerisms. A 26-year-old Laphroaig drawn from a mature Sherry butt, this serious whisky lures you in with its warm amber colour and sweet characteristics. Then you discover its more sinister personality. Fired with caramel, coal embers and toasted peat, its power possesses your palate. After the initial spell comes welcoming flavours of clove and dried figs, with a lingering layer of smoked malt. An immense richness and intensity throughout leave you with much to ponder, apart from its sheer deliciousness. Distilled at a time when there was a greater focus at Laphroaig on its own floor maltings and longer kiln time, this special liquid is a rare find.
