Хорошо выдержанный прибрежный солод с ореховым, хересно-сухофруктовым носом и солёно-пряным вкусом; носу почти все ставят выше вкуса, а главный упрёк — цена (~250€), не оправданная качеством.

В аромате преобладают орехи (арахис, фундук), молочный и тёмный шоколад, сухофрукты, кулинарные абрикос и персик, плюс морская соль и минеральность; у части дегустаторов проступают сухое старое дерево, изюм, финики, корица и лёгкий дымок, а также нотки незрелого персика, гуавы и свежих трав с заметной кислотностью. Вкус солёно-пряный: печёные жёлтые фрукты, белый перец, дуб, немного пепла и маслянистой плотности, с хересными оттенками олоросо и тёмным мёдом; послевкусие средней длины — сушёные цитрусовые, имбирь, карамель, освежающая горчинка, быстро сушит язык.
Опытные ревьюеры сходятся на 86–87 и почти единодушно отмечают, что нос убедительнее и элегантнее вкуса, в котором остаются грубоватые, недошлифованные элементы; один прямо предпочитает вместо этого релиза несколько бутылок Victoriana. Остальные оценки разбросаны шире (83–90): верхнюю границу дал слепой дегустатор, восхищённый хересным деревом и цитрусом, тогда как критики жалуются на плоский для 21 года, хлебно-ванильный вкус, горький дуб, странное химическое послевкусие и прежде всего на неадекватную цену. Общая согласованность высокая — большинство держится около 87 при среднем 87,37, — а расхождения касаются не столько профиля, сколько того, стоит ли он запрашиваемых денег.

Overall, top drawer nose. Good mix of fruit, coastal notes and sweetness.

Aroma: strong licorice makes itself known, cloves, currant, toffee. Taste: a bit too flat for 21 years, bready, toffee or more vanilla pudding, spices, bitter oak. Ginger finish, medium, a bit lemony. Quickly dries out the tongue. Strange aftertaste of something chemical on the finish. Maybe it's those mushrooms.

The nose was convincing and really good at times, while the palate certainly displayed some more unpolished elements.
Quick hit review. Online tasting 09/2025. Older bottlings of Glen Scotia have never really impressed me, and this expensive release is no exception. The nose starts off with unripe peach, guava and cranberry juice, and I'm picking up fresh herbs and hints of vanilla. It's quite acidic. Fruity and crisp in the arrival, the palate unfolds with apples, lemon rind and honey before dry wood spices and eucalyptus chime in. Grapefruit, tannins and lingering freshness characterize the medium-length finish. A well-aged single malt, but I'd rather buy 2-3 bottles of Victoriana instead. An interesting whisky, but not €250 interesting for sure. I find it hard to put a score on the fun I had nosing and tasting its eccentric bouquet vs. the uninspiring finish, the not-ready-for-prime time taste of the said bouquet and the absurd price of the bottle. If you're going to charge Edrington level prices, it's not enough that your product is rare. It has to be exceptionally good too.
