This 42-year-old Glenrothes is acutely aromatic. The orange citrus is quite pronounced on the nose, with stone fruits: white peaches and apricots. This still has a classic and loveable Glenrothes sweetness, with notes of sugared almonds and freshly shaved cedar. The palate is velvety and silky soft. Despite its age, it retains a surprising freshness. It is quite magnificent and not what I had expected from four decades in oak.
