This is matured in a balance of American and European oak. The American oak takes the lead here, with a solid vanilla structure that is then sprinkled with spices. On the nose, sea salt and heather are noticeable and a surprising amount of citrus fruit on the palate. The style of peat, while being Highland, still has a slight coastal feel to it, with that smoke remaining throughout.
