В аромате мёд и светлые садовые фрукты — груша, жёлтое яблоко, цитрус, крыжовник — поверх лёгкого хайлендского торфа, ванили и холодной золы; дым описывают как костёр в вересковых полях, с оттенками копчёного лосося, поджаренных трав, хвои и слабой морской минеральности. Вкус при 50% мощнее аромата: маслянистая сливочная текстура, сладкий солод и мёд, груша с яблоком и кисловатый крыжовник, перечная пряность и земляной торф, местами древесно-угольная горчинка; послевкусие среднее, тёплое, с дымом, пряностями и цитрусом, у части дегустаторов слегка вяжущее и суховатое. Хвалят баланс сладости и дыма, чистоту бочек из-под бурбона и то, что торф здесь пронизывает все грани, а не доминирует; редкая критика — короткое суховатое послевкусие, лёгкая серность, а у одного всплывает резкая парфюмерная нота через полтора часа. Оценки очень согласованы: основная масса держится на 86–88, опытные ревьюеры чуть сдержаннее (85–86 при паре невыставленных 87), и лишь единичные выбросы вверх (93, «сминерально и травянисто») и вниз (82, 84) заметно отклоняются от консенсуса.

Calm nose with notes of vanilla, nice taste with notes of orange, cool! A little dry short aftertaste, but overall a nice and interesting release, nice to drink, all positive!! 21+ 21 20+ 21 84
A proper dram with enough going on to keep you interested, but well put together so you won't feel overly taxed. Well worth getting a bottle if you enjoy a decent Arran.

I’m distracted by my surroundings at this time, so notes become sparse. From a random, reminiscent mention of Topless Darts at the Ballet – real high-brow stuff featured on [UK] terrestrial television – a web search leads me to LiveTV. I don’t remember the channel, but it looks like it [LiveTV] transmitted for four years [wiki]. My initial perspective is it was TikTok of its day. T&F: Juicy savoury malt-sweet, it’s Arran around the bonfire, alright. a little chocolate,… I feel I missed out on all the fruits of the surf & turf, noticing more, the overall chiselled complexity. C: Peated malt from Arran, distilled when Lagg [est 2019] was all but a pipe dream. Very decent.
Soft, sweet, with rather sour, smoky tones, as if I had entered a damp, smoke-filled room.
Smell: pleasant, fresh, fruity, with orchard fruit honey, slightly ashy character Taste: it is beautifully mineral, fresh, herbal, hasler-like, slightly bitter and astringent, but with a very nice character

Very fresh, pleasantly smoky, fruity and sour (grapes, gooseberries), slightly woody but sweet wood, soft malt, chocolate bitterness at the end with a slight spiciness.

Does anybody know the previous content of the peated casks used at Arran? Is it always from the same distillery? Great example of unpeated whisky matured in peated cask if this is what they did. More 85.5 then 86 but definitely better then 85...
86+ Great pick-up, bonfire really is the adequate word. Initially I scored 87, but now I lower it to an 86+ to match the Optic Barley 10. Both are amazing whiskies and I wish Arran would turn them into regular guests. Totally deserving of the almost 100 euros I spent.
| Нос | 87 | Amazing nose, so unique. Very toasted, where the smoke is not dominant but pervades every single facet of the whisky: fruits, herbs, wood, malt, spices. A lot of dry forest notes (toasted lavender, ultra-dry twigs, pine needles) that join forces with a lot of toasted fruit notes (apple peel, apricot peel, grapefruit rind). A very diverse smoke (mostly earthy), from a bonfire in the heather fields, to a pine forest one with soft carbonized bacon bits, sometimes a faint maritime feeling with a slight beach-sandy mineral note as well. A lot of honey-malt notes gaining strength as it breathes, and rounding everything out without a trace of alcohol or glue: truly great bourbon casks allowing a long nosing without any fatigue (the custom Koval casks must've made the difference). After acquaintance, emerging candy aromas, the same ones I love about the regular 10 but with more diverse dry elements to balance them out. Further inspection and some raw vegetal scents emerge as well (celery). Fantastic. |

Very round honey-malt upfront with a lot of toasted yet restrained herbal elements (rosemary, pine needles, sage). The sweetness becomes more indistinct, or at least it becomes less diverse fruit-wise. Very pleasant still with a bunch of harmonizing spices (nutmeg, pepper, roasted coriander and fennel seeds), proving the quality of these casks and the attention to detail in distillation and maturation methods. The smoke loses some strength, providing a soft accent to the overall herbal, earthy character of the experience. Great. |

Warm smoke, toasted malt, spice infused honey, almost cocoa but not quite, very well-paced, warm warm warm, pleasant. Often dustier and drier here, but with a lot of personality and without any off-notes or off-sensations. Venerable release. |
A very nice combination of fruity citrus notes and peaty, smoky flavors. Overall, a very delicious whisky.quite distinctive in its profile, but very well made.

Nice choice if you like mix of sweet and smoke. Fresh, fruity, sweet, ash and smoke is there, good balance and nice finish. Pretty good choice and whisky is very nice to sip in the evening.
Quite a nicely composed whisky. Everything is in its place. Realized that Arran liked a little smokiness. Aromas of granola, other cereals, Highland Park heather, vanilla custard, caramelized grilled pears, and a hint of buckwheat honey. Over time, peaches appeared! The taste is dense, oily, with citrus fruits, like an orange or even a grapefruit. The oiliness persists in the aftertaste, but it disappears quite quickly, leaving only a feeling of the strength of the alcohol. Among the minuses - after an hour and a half in the glass - a sharp note of perfume appears, which is a little disturbing. In general, it is a very drinkable malt with a rather friendly aroma. There is no shipping of barrels, as in the main line. Although, to be honest, I was looking for my favorite note of fresh coconut shavings, which is present in the standard 10, and which is not here :)
On the nose, I get lovely notes of vanilla and sweet peat smoke. On the palate, I'm greeted by a significantly stronger smokiness than the nose suggests. The sweet peat smoke, reminiscent of marinated grilled meat, transitions into an intense and almost bitter charcoal smoke. The sweetness of mild maple syrup, a subtle fruitiness, and the rugged spiciness typical of Arran blend together to create a harmonious whole. Notes of roasted pepper, earthy minerality, and sea salt are just as discernible as hints of fresh lemon zest and light peach. When I taste a peaty whisky from a distillery that doesn't usually peat, I often wonder if and how it compares to the many peaty whiskies from Islay. In this case, the answer for me is no. With its spectrum of sweet and delicate notes, ranging from rich, tart smoke to the rugged character of Arran, this whisky stands on its own. Much like the Glendronach Ode to the Embers, the concept works perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed this dram.
