22 21+ 22 22 87+ Old Glenmorangie?) The whisky left a strange impression. Everything seemed fine, but there was something understated, a lack of complexity. Hmm, maybe because they diluted it to 46%, even if only slightly. Overall, it's a delicious whisky, but I was expecting something more interesting...

Just a highlander.

[November 2022] Holy whisky ghosts! A 37-years old Glenmo' for 500 bucks - if this would be an original release, they would charge ten times of that, at minimum. This is a must try, no doubt... ...and for sure this is a must try! Wow, what a complex, interesting and harmonious old beauty. But as with most of these subtle old drams a small sample tasting does not really work: The first dram is just good to calibrate your taste buds and olfactory cells (I scored it 88-89 points only), the second dram offers a lot of its hidden secrets already (90-91 points) while the third dram in a row really kicks me in whisky heaven. Because of that I seriously advise not to buy a 2cl sample only as most probably you will be somewhat disappointed, go for at least 5cl (or skip it). [November 2022] I re-tasted this dram with good friends tonight and either it improved in an (almost) empty bottle due to oxidation or I am simply in a better mood, but I have to raise the score to 93 points, without doubts. I had several drams to countercheck this tonight, and all confirm: Great stuff from the past, and I doubt such whisky was produced in the new millennium at all. If you can afford it (and you like such a profile) go for it, I swear you will not regret it because in doubt you can sell such a bottle with a huge profit in the future (referencing the initial release price of around 500 Eurobucks).

N: Instant aahs. This isn’t your everyday whisky. I’m getting plenty of [Daigeo Special Release-rich] fruitiness, [Littlemill-esque] putty cream, and marbled sugar cookies, but it’s the oils that impress the most. T: Despite some formidable age, this one has retained body and gracefulness of form, though it is a softly softly approach. F: Great for its age, it transcends the official GlenMo profile which tends to remain constant in the 10yo as it is with the 25yo. Concludes with a complex convergence of lactose-y hessian fungal with an entrenched oakiness and thick sour cream. C: I was scared to overscore this, aware that I may be carried away in the [malt barn] moment. With a sample taken home, I was in no danger. She’s a cracker, most reminiscent of a 35yo Tamdhu cask #3230 [WLP91].

Glenmo It's not explicitly stated on the label, but we learned from a very good source that this is a Glenmorangie. I tasted it at the Spirits in the Sky festival in Brussels in November 2025 and immediately decided to score another sample to taste again at home in peace. Here it is. A delightful, waxy nose of honey and citrus fruit with a soft floral note. Very subtle and restrained, yet complex, but you do need to take your time. Patience is rewarded with hints of gingerbread, toasted walnuts, and guimauve. Oily, almost waxy on the palate, and beautifully old-school with notes of sweet and sour, candied fruit (blood orange, grapefruit), complemented by walnuts and a hint of stewed pear. The whole thing is very gently spiced. A drizzle of olive oil and a teaspoon of honey make this a very creamy affair. Enchantingly delicious. The finish is unfortunately a bit short, but no less delicious for that. Pears, orange, and, on the deathbed, an unexpected note of tobacco and roasted coffee beans. Ha! Fantastic whisky, possibly the best Glenmo I've ever tasted. The bottle is still readily available, which probably has a lot to do with its price tag of around €540. However, if Glenmorangie had released it as an official release, it would undoubtedly have cost more than six times that amount.

A bunch of herbs and flowers (flower meadow), a lot of honey, spices, oak and nut notes, vanilla ice cream, plum jam, dust of old antique furniture... The taste is honey-peppery and still has a salty aftertaste. Also green grass, plum-fruit jam, oak. The finish is medium, pleasant, despite a slight woody and herbal bitterness. Not my favorite profile, but overall pretty good. By the way, from the first sniff it reminded me of the aroma of the old glenmorangie 10. 23-22.5-22-22.5

Among best Glenmorangie ever tasted. Unmistakable orange nose, in this case the best red mature orange from Sicily. One point less due to the price.

(Update Dec. 2022: After I had another 4cl sample in the glass today, I have to upgrade the whisky by one point. 92 points is the maximum for a perfect pleasure whisky and that's exactly what this one is. It doesn't get any better, maybe more complex, maybe more exciting or profound, but not more enjoyable.) (Update Jan. 23: today, in addition to the sweetness with salty parts, I also find some nutty aromas in the background. That could also be an atypical and very good Ben Nevis. Nose and palate are a dream). I was given this one as a blind sample and first dram of the night. I'll put it this way: my assessment was partly correct and partly far away :-) A tip: at the beginning of a tasting you should calibrate the palate with a light and oily dram and then try several drams of this in order to be able to really assess it. I would never have thought of Glenmorangie.... Today just a short note; detailed notes follow.

Excellent Glenmorangie, strong orange on the nose, very fruity, complex and balanced. Cannot give more detailed notes, tried at a whisky show with a very small measure.

Sweet, spicy herbal aroma. Fruit essences of pear, apple. Orange jam. A little polish on a dusty tabletop. And a little salt and smoke. The taste is rich, but not very complex. Fruit jam, spices. Lacks strength. You have to take big sips, but only 50ml( The aftertaste is short and quickly fades. Baked apples with cinnamon, absolutely no oak tannins. This is a cool whisky to drink. A bottle of this in a bar wouldn’t hurt, but the price tag... It would be good if it added some strength and then it would be much more attractive, especially in taste and aftertaste.

Excellent balance, delicate and light profile. It might be more interesting to keep it in the cask version. I would love to pour a glass of this whisky on a warm evening on the terrace, but the price... Blindly, I would rather take it for some kind of release from the Highland of the 70-80s with an age of 10-15 years

I tasted it again two weeks later, and this time I gave it an even higher rating. It's a very high-end fruit tea. It achieves a perfect balance between easy drinking and complexity. Truly a fine beverage. The only downside might be that you might unknowingly drink too much.

Quite a fragile but complex glenmorangie. When first poured and nosed i just kept on smiling. Develops beautifully in the glass and something you could spend an evening with a single pour. Beautiful and very satisfying palate and a really nice finish. Does it show its age? Well the complexity certainly shows and develops. The wood isnt very assertive and has just gently supported the development of the spirit. An excellent (and on secondary prices relative bargain) dram.

Truly exceptional. Without a doubt the best Glenmorangie I’ve ever had. Would probably get 2 points more if it had been in cask strength

Beautiful Glenmorangie, the distillery character, that beautiful honey and vanilla note is definitely to taste. The barrel has done a great job, followed by aromatic nut aromas, almond and again vanilla, some Christmas spice, clove, cinnamon. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Perfect old style whisky without magic finish, where cask and distillate harmonize perfectly. The malt is quite subtle and it takes time and many sips to actually appreciate it in its entirety. Anyway, I'm thrilled.
