with water: no, it doesn't need any water Conclusion: mmhh, I actually like it, but somehow it seems a bit too dull, a bit too much wet wood, I like it best in the mouth with its marzipan note

Short, with blackberries and some oak. |
Balanced, deep sherry notes with an elegant, round sweetness. Overall a little monotonous, more of a delicious malt on the side. Marzipan and red fruits are almost alone, later spicy-woody notes come along.
A decent sipper. Inoffensive, approachable, and not overpowering. Something to quaff with a few friends who are new to whisky. At least if you approach whisky from that side of things that is. Could‘ve benefitted a lot from a higher ABV though.

One word: „Friendly“. Sweet apples, banana schnaps, pear compote. I could almost mistake this for a Glenfiddich 12. Not meant as an offense! The 43% does not help its complexity however. |

Inoffensive, with mild vanilla cream, shortbread cookies, and faint caramel hard candy. Its medium-sweet and has a shadow of, for my taste, its Aberlour cardboardiness present. No comparison to the 12yo NCF from a few years ago though. That thing was almost dusty attic essence. |

Medium-short. Mild tannins linger for a bit, but overall the experience is over quickly. |
Nose: Cherry wine, marzipan, orange peel, rum pot (?). Taste: Stronger than expected. Adding a few drops of water: Clear sweetness with toffee/caramel floats to the top, also some nuttiness and that great milk chocolate taste I like so much in sherry whiskies. Sultanas, oranges again. Not bad, not bad at all. Finish: Rather long (without water)/short (with water) and warming.
Ok, the whisky isn't actually bad - I don't find any wrong notes here. The problem is that I can hardly find any notes at all. An extremely disappointing whisky. The seemingly slightly raised age of 16 is nowhere noticeable and the expectations raised by this (and the price) cannot be fulfilled in any way. Raisins and plums greet me in the nose, which I like best here. But almost none of it ends up in the mouth. A thin, watery basic sweetness floods the tongue; behind it only hints can be made out. Very slightly generic sherry cask aromas of raisins, gingerbread and cinnamon - but maybe I'm just imagining them. The finish is extremely short and doesn't develop any character of its own. Just more sweet.
