Decadent Drams Dailauine 19 years old

Distilled in 2007, this Dailuaine 19 Years Old spent its first thirteen years maturing in a refill hogshead before enjoying a further six years in a 1st fill sherry hogshead. Bottled at a gently reduced 53% ABV, the result is a richly layered Highland malt where generous sherry character meets Dailuaine's naturally weighty, muscular spirit. Deep, complex and wonderfully harmonious, it showcases the kind of careful cask management that rewards patience in abundance. Nose: Dense and rather lusciously sherry-influenced. Lots of sticky and tangy dark fruits, some waxy textural qualities and hints of plum wine, old Cointreau and earthy Armagnac. Palate: Very rich and classical sherry profile, recalls the old Flora and Fauna 16yo in some ways. Earthy and mineral-flecked sherry profile, with more dark fruit chutney, plums baked in Armagnac, sweet liquorice and ruby ale. Finish: Long, well-balanced between sweeter dark fruits, and drier earthy and bitter chocolate notes.
