The first time I gave it 88 points but I even enjoy it more now so giving it even 90 points this time. 89 points in average. Well done but also not more value than the asked release price (130€ for 0,5L)

My first Octomore and I liked it a lot! Surprisingly smooth concerning the high ABV. The peat nicely integrated, red wine influences very noticeable.

This was a surprising dram. I’ve seldom found the Octomores I’ve tried to be much more peaty than other peated malts, even their own Port Charlotte, but this one was particularly mellow. This let all the weird cask influences through. It was a very interesting and dynamic dram, there were lots of flavours interacting with one another here, which was the intention.I found it a little too fruity for my tastes, but still quite a wild ride for the palate, which I thoroughly enjoyed.Reviewed in my blog:https://iwriteaboutstuffilike.com/2017/08/04/octomore-oba/

During the Feis Ile in 2016, I was present at the OBA or at the first tasting live and filled up a sample for later. Nothing was said about the drum composition in the Masterclass, but it was spoken by Vintage 2007 or older. This does not quite fit with the offcial OBA Concept bottling, which also contains 2008 barrels, which is why I assume that something has been improved on prescriptions for the OBA bottling, which has been emphatically demanded. Therefore at this point simply the direct comparison. Conclusion: These are definitely two different whiskys, which one notes the relationship or the same basic idea. But now to the OBA Concept, which is actually here. In my opinion, the fine tuning was successful and I like it a little better than what was then served in the Masterclass. Nice intense in all areas. Great intense smoke in the mouth, which blends harmoniously with the superficial caramel note. Unmistakably Laddie.

Now that the 10 cl sample has been half-empty in the treasure chest for a long time and I was recently able to buy a bottle at a reasonable price, I set about tasting it again.

| Нос | 98 | Immediately a honey sweetness in the nose with very pleasant influence of alcohol and smoked bacon aromas. Cinnamon, spicy, mint, then also salty sea spray. Tart aromas of cherry, apple, blackberry. Over time, the smoked bacon gives way to the sour wine note, which becomes more dominant (reminiscent of a very fruity, cool white wine/white grapes). A wonderful interplay of sweetness & sourness & saltiness. Very slight hint of wood and spiced speculoos. An absolute snooper! Very complex, there is much more behind it, but I can't wait any longer and want to taste. After the first sip, the smoked bacon comes out stronger when you sniff the glass; but then again deviates from the pattern described above. |

Head distiller Adam Hannett made an excellent job with the vatting of the various casks. Probably the most complex Octomore I tasted so far. Each casks brought specific flavours. Very moreish (if you don't mind sulphur) and now my favorite Octomore with 6.3 and the 12 years old Yquem Cask.

Unfortunately at that time I was too slow to get a “regular” bottle. Thanks to a good friend, I got a 10 cl sample for the purchase price. The tasting knocked me off my stool! After a long search - and a little luck - I have now acquired a bottle (albeit still very expensive; but you only live once and sometimes you have to treat yourself to something).

It takes time in the glass and needs to be warmed up well - pear, apricot, candied fruit and citrus aromas follow. And again and again the wonderful sweetness (cinnamon) with smoked bacon in spices. A super great sniffer! |

Very tasty and drinkable whisky, it is drunk as if at 46% ABV Personally, it seems to me that this whisky can be easily compared and paralleled with Port Charlotte PCXX, Ledaig and even some Springbank 15-yo. 23 22 22 22

A great and varied whisky. The Octomore offers me everything I expect of him: Voluminous peat, fruity and well-integrated smoke, an extremely fruity basic setting and a pleasant sharpness. He has plenty of power and also the fact that he shows his soft and creamy side more often. A great malt, I like it very much!

Delicious! I can understand that, as we have already read in some of the comments, for some people there is a bit of a “bang”, for me personally, since I tend not to like the strongly phenolic-dominated and overwhelming smokers anyway, in their balance a really nice one Paint.

After gently swirling, the clear liquid edge in the glass slowly releases strikingly round droplets that run down the glass wall in slow legs. "Fruchtrauch" is the first association in the nose: a little smoked bacon and a lot of campfire, at the interface of warm and cold smoke. Dark cherries, juicy dried plums, also orange, grapefruit at almost the same height, behind them float caramel and custard, pink candy floss, shortbread, cognac and a slice of wholemeal bread with lemon curd. A little oak, or maybe more grated hazelnuts - with a salty tone and a hint of white wine vinegar in alcohol. Overall, the OBA balances steadily on the line between sweet-smoky heaviness and floral-fruity freshness, in the tips almost floral with heavy roses, rosehip flowers and Ricola herb sugar candies. With time in the glass, the smoke gradually fades into the background, warm, sweet orange jam takes the lead. Very pleasant. |

Very nice Octomore from Bruichladdich - sweet meat, funky seaweed and earthy peat, with fortified wine notes shining through. Doesn't need water, drinks very well at cask strength.

Actually this is OBA 2 never tasted before, but first tasted at 2025 London whisky show. Layers of cask maturation mysteriously combined to provide an amazing dram. Fruity, vanilla, colas, chocolate, sugar barley combine with a peaty sensation. A dream dram.

This whisky is definitely one of the most aromatic and for my taste tastiest whiskys, which I could try so far. The OBA initially surprises with spicy BBQ flavors and gradually transforms into a whisky, in which sweet red fruits, chocolate leathery oak and an intense charcoal smoke harmonize perfectly with each other. I can recommend this intense taste experience to every whisky fan, if he still comes to an affordable bottle or sample. A whisky for the island!

Character : Curiosity has led us to a release full of complexity; layered flavours that combine and overlap each other in a way we haven’t seen before in Octomore. Nose: The dark dried fruit and bitter chocolate combination on the nose is followed by an explosion on the palate. Palate: Dry peat smoke, spicy ginger, liquorice, then tea leaves and moist tobacco. Apricot and sea salt wrapped in a blanket of salty, smoky dried fruit. Mood: This whisky has deep, dark depths to discover. The complexity holds everything together, tightly bound and secret. A combination of the rarest spirit and casks we have. Finish: The finish is desperately long, the lingering flavours will twist and turn as they compete for the final word from this outrageous dram. Colour: Amber Body: Full Nose: More of a PC, sulphurous smoke, Sherry, black cherry. Actually, it very much reminds me of a less sulphurous PC12. There’s a dark fruitiness but the sulphur is in balance and is entwined with the smoke. Water: More sweetness, more cherry, orange. Slightly floral after a minute, opens up. Taste: Intense, sulphur, Sherry, Cherry, black smoke, dirty bonfire. Builds. There’s a dirtiness to this I haven’t really had with other whiskies. It goes past earthiness. Water: Softer, goddamn awesome, really builds beautifully with cherry, bright orange, lovely oils and sulphurous smoke. Brighter and more building and balanced Finish: Long length. Back to sweetness with a kind of ashy, dirty, like literally dirt, digging around in the garden, glacé cherry. Water: Awesome, epic. Seriously great finish with water Oct at the top of its game, really good. Just about tops the 7.3 According to Adam Hannett, the youngest whisky is from 2007. 87/100

massive force of aromas, salt, smoke, greasy, slightly fruity sweetness. A very complex Octomore, as always with Octomore play the high PPM phenol indication not matter (they were not specified here anyway). I'm looking forward to about 20 octomores, maybe this will be the first old Islay whiskys where no loss of phenol intensity is noticeable.

Best Octomore I tasted so far. Theses babys are getting better and better with age and maturity. All flavours are well integrated and are dancing in sync. On par with the 13yo from the MP series. This bottling is a milestone for Octomore. Try to get a sample at least, it's worth it. I hope they will not bottle every new release in these greedy little 500ml bottles.

Well. If that were a Classic of Islay I would say: "Taste bold and tasty, nose a bit closed, but for 45 € still a cheap cracker." But for !! 127 € !! for !! Octoore !!, from which you can now expect good 200ppm phenol and last but not least for this mysterious !! OBA-fuss !! ... that's for me to Orpheus, Comus , 6.1 simply the total pipe cracker. Sorry guys, mission failed! (Or I'm just too stupid for an ingenious whisky - should happen.) 8) -------------- Control tasting 2 days later, this time as first and not after three other whiskys. Somewhat fuller, sweeter on the nose, but otherwise I stick to my notes. Do not get me wrong, the whisky is not bad. Fat, sweet, tasty, strong in the mouth, strongly smoky sherry / wine barrel whisky (with a little weak nose). I like to drink. But he does not knock me off the stool. The smoke is unspectacular for an Octomore and I find nothing out of the ordinary, no kick, no "concept". In that sense, that is a disappointment to me. (If that's a Caol-Ila- or Bunna-HP-sherry-strength for 60 €, I would go, but not so.)

Red berries, some vanilla, tons of leather, tobacco, BBQ with smoked ham and a salty spiciness of cayenne pepper and paprika. Not creamy, rather "watery-thin" with flaming charcoal and a bit of sour peat. Taste: Extremely sweet and spicy-woody at the same time. Hot, salty and getting drier and woodier. Red fruit, bitterly acidic herbs, peat, coal and some "oblique" notes between extreme sweetness and kräutrig-woody bitterness. You have to like this taste otherwise ... Finish: long - spicy, woody, sweet! Too sweet and inappropriately bitter. Herbal freshness, young oak and sweet peat. Remark: Is this concept a success? Unfortunately for us rather less! 82 points N: 88P / G: 78P / F: 80P

From front to back, a coherent and wonderful compilation. A really great malt, which joins in the Octomore somewhere to my top Afbüllungen, which consist of the legendary Orpheus, the great Comus and the strong 6.3. Chapeau, Mr. Hannet. If the level stays that high, I hope for many more "Black Art" bottlings in the Ocomore area.

A great whisky, one of the best Octomore I've ever had in my glass and I've tried almost all of them. I don't think it's very old but the flavors that come out in the glass are just amazing. Despite the now crazy price, I have to say I'm glad I bought another bottle, it's definitely worth it. Conclusion: great nose, amazing taste and the finish is very long. Great whisky for unfortunately too high a price.

This one absolutely lives up to the hype. I’ve had some incredible Octomores over the years, but this OBA Concept is on another level. The first thing that stands out is the incredible complexity. Every time I went back to the glass I found something new—sweet fruit, vanilla, oak, citrus, chocolate, maritime notes, and beautifully integrated peat. Nothing feels out of place. The smoke is definitely there, but it complements the whisky instead of dominating it. This is one of those rare drams that just keeps opening up, changing with time and making each sip better than the last. It’s easy to understand why this bottling has become legendary among Octomore fans. A phenomenal whisky that completely exceeded my already sky-high expectations. One of the best Octomores I’ve ever tasted.

An excellent dram kindly shared by the staff at Bruichladdich from their last bottle out the back. Probably the best Octomore - certainly that I've tried. I love the smoke on this expression, soft smoked kippers, or burnt Christmas cake. I'm on the 6.3 at the moment (also great) and this one is a lot richer in style. The smell is like the emptied glass of the 6.3 the following day when the last drop has really oxidized and lingers in the bottom of the glass. 93/94 pts from me.

Strong sherry-smoke nose. Nothing special, taste sweet, dark fruit, smoky with a bit of coffee and walnuts. Departure relatively short. Unspectacular, the taste is still the best, Marko can only agree, which is delicious, but not what I expect of an Octomore, or in principle of a whisky in this price range.

I am totally overwhelmed by this! Maybe too much different casks, I was thinking at the beginning. But now I am convinced. I love most of the octomores, but this one, I am absolutely amazed by. This is in my top 3 whiskies (out of about 350 I have tasted so far). The complexity is enormous, so much variation. I guess with each other dram you can associate new things. Unfortunately I don't own a bottle myself and the rising price of this baby left me with empty hands. PC12 is one of my dearest all time favorites, but this baby puts it to shame.

It has an oily viscosity and its bouquet is of relatively strong intensity. I have aromas of intense peat smoke, cheese, sulfur, dried fruit, subtle vanilla, pipe tobacco, ash and dark chocolate. Moderately complex. A good balance between sweetness and dryness in terms of taste. The alcohol is well integrated and has a relatively heavy body.
