Свежий, цветочный лоуленд тройной перегонки в бурбоне — цитрус, ваниль, трава, табак, но с суховатой дубовой горчинкой. Опытные ставят чуть выше среднего, но многие считают его простоватым и не тянущим на свои 18 лет.

В аромате преобладают лёгкость и свежесть: цитрус (лимон, мандарин, лайм), зелёные яблоки, свежая трава и цветы, ваниль, карамель, мёд, оттенки ореха, зелёного чая и заметная нота табака, у части авторов — неожиданная солёность и морские тона при сдержанном дубе. Во вкусе — маслянистость, миндаль, цитрус, ванильное мороженое и цветочно-пряные ноты (корица, белый перец, мускатный орех), но тело нередко называют жидковатым, а к послевкусию нарастают сухость, дубовая и танинная горчинка, зелёный чай, кофе и лёгкий пепел; послевкусие средней длины, тёплое, но у многих чрезмерно горькое.
Хвалят чистоту и свежесть спирта, честную выдержку только в бурбоне, раскрывающую лоулендский характер, и контраст сухого и сладкого с табачным акцентом. Критикуют сухость, аптечно-дубовую горечь, слабое и водянистое нёбо, отдельные посторонние ноты (разбавленное молоко, сыр) и несоответствие цены и возраста заявленным ожиданиям — по мнению ряда авторов, для 18 лет напиток простоват и не впечатляет. Опытные ревьюеры оценивают его чуть выше и мягче (в основном 78–87), тогда как остальные дают более широкий разброс с провалами до 73–75 именно из-за горечи и разочарования возрастом; при этом общее ядро оценок держится около 83–85, так что расхождение умеренное.

Nice nose, fails in the palate ans the expectations about a noble 18 years old. Like the finish too. Good whisky for summer. Good daily dram, you will enjoy, but that is the problem, price and age don't match with definition of "daily dram"

Dry and less fruity than the "Bartender's Malt", round, vanilla I do not think so. I like the whole thing better, grassy-dry tastes good, but the 75 € can actually justify with "Triple Distilled", otherwise there is much better in the price area.

- a good single malt but a bit disappointing for the age - not as sweet or intense as expected / hoped for, - would have expected a bit more overall

One of these bottlings that are not baaaad, but meh... rather forgetable and not exiting at all. Buy for around 60 EUR if you must but be aware that this 18 is not on the forefront of what 18 yo whiskies are capable of... ;-)

A frankly weak, scorched, oaky drugstore whisky. For 18-year-old releases of this quality, you need to downgrade. 19 18 18 18

| Нос | 85 | Surprisingly salty, quite a fair bit of coastal notes, from a triple distilled Lowland distillery. Quite oaky, kind of perfumy, with some soft fruitiness. |

Sponge cake, flowers, butter, shortbread, light orchard fruits, hint of orange, light vanilla, honey, barley sugar, sandalwood. The age is evident in the restrained elegance of the nose and palate. It's a 'pretty' whisky, and I find myself quite attracted by it.

Very harmonious and perfect in its own way, suitable for both novice and casual connoisseurs, it is a fitting ex-Bourbon 18, although it does not have the complexity or intensity of flavor that many would expect at such an age.

A nice dram with its own distinct character! I really like the freshness, the contrast between dry and sweet, and of course the tobacco notes. The low score here is undeserved in my opinion. Auchentoshan had the balls to bottle a purely bourbon matured 18 years old, which really allows the spirit to shine and showcase its Lowland profile. For the updated 18 years old (wb 195921) Auchentoshan unfortunately went for the more conventional way to throw some sherry casks in the mix to achieve the 'richness' people expect in a 18 years old malt.

—- blind tasting —- I estimated this whisky 14 years old and would have given it two more points. For 18 years he's really not very impressive.

Something I do not like in this dram. He reminds me of a Highland Park and I do not really like Highland Park. This has the same.

There's obvious age and immediate enjoyability, but something seems lost in the new release. The fruit isn't as sherry-rich and there's a darker, more bitter or tannic vein running through it. It's nice, but it lacks something to make it worth coming back to at the price. Note: Time shifts the nose to oxidized orchard fruits, cold fruit pies/cobbler, dried pineapple cubes and candied ginger, with a distant scent of old books kept in cardboard boxes. Water brings out malt and vanilla on the nose and dulls the fruit and spice. Similarly, brings out malt on the palate, but dulls the other flavors. Water is not recommend.
