В аромате преобладают ваниль, солод и сладость с оттенками мёда, свежих орехов, злаков, печенья и светлых, порой искусственно-фруктовых нот (мармеладки, консервированный персик); нередко проступает резкость и спиртуозность молодого дистиллята. Во вкусе поначалу сладко и мягко — ваниль, дуб, лёгкие пряности, цитрус, тесто, — но тело тонкое, водянистое, с проскакивающей горечью и нехваткой глубины. Послевкусие короткое, тёплое, дубово-ванильное, у части дегустаторов почти пустое или чуть жгучее; отмечают разорванность профиля, где аромат, вкус и послевкусие не складываются в единую линию. Опытные ревьюеры сходятся во мнении: это доступный, лёгкий аперитивный виски для новичков, приятный за свою цену, но невыразительный и не стоящий покупки, а главная претензия — замена им 12-летнего собрата, рядом с которым безвозрастная версия проигрывает плоскостью и купажной невзрачностью. Оценки в целом согласованы и держатся у 75–79, с редкими всплесками до 86 и резкими провалами до 31 и 60 у тех, кто счёл его безвкусным или искусственным; менее опытные авторы дают схожий разброс, чаще подчёркивая водянистость и заурядность как ежедневного дежурного напитка.

Pear ice pops on the nose and taste

Overpowering smell and taste of something a bit like pear, only horrid and completely artificial. It's so unpleasant that it makes me wonder whether this contains a (nasty) flavour congener that only some people can taste, as celery does... One of only two single malts I've ever had that I'd actively prefer not to drink. I was given the bottle as a gift, but after trying four drams spread over a couple of months (partly because I couldn't believe it could really be this bad) I gave the rest away.

In my opinion and taste the smell, the palate and the finish are quite separated from eachother. It looks like there's no line or fluent story to tell. Especially the palate seems to have a lack of exiting flavors. Once reduced more malty notes and then you get the very young impressions this malt whisky has to offer. A shame that The Glenlivet the 12y replaces by this NAS, while they can do so much better. This is just an ordinary daily dram.

Beginner whisky: The novice whisky drinker will like this one because the palate has yet to be developed and has no references as to how better whiskys taste. This whisky has everything a whisky should not have, the 40% makes it watery, but very accessible for a beginner. The colorant in it disguises its young age (probably the minimum of 3 years) and in addition the barrels used are of poor quality.. of course it is heavily chill filtered.. the whisky has little smell and taste and I find it watery ...

Not the best experience. The zesty orange notes come through with the harshness of its NAS. Vanilla, caramel and floral notes follow with harsh taste of prickly new make. Mouthfeel very watery and tasted overall like barley flavored water. Good however for a beginners a good starting point.

Good beginner whisky, very accessible due to its thin and sweet fruity nature. Bit of a strong alcohol finish. Let it acclimate, oxygen will smooth it out. Used to be my favorite but I try a different bottle almost every time I go out to buy one. And with each new bottle, this one seems to become less impressive. In reality there's better whisky's to be had for lower prices.

A very sad replacement of the generally solid 12YO for some markets, ridiculously more expensive than the latter - an immature concoction from second-rate barrels, the alcohol thinly disguised in artificial fruit notes.

Not my cup of tea. I like the older expressions better. However, even on the 15 yo expression, the palette of glenlivet is not very suitable to my liking. This expression comes with all negative aspects of the older expressions amplified. Too much oak, too little complexity.

Нос67Very fresh and sweet. Feels a bit oo young, but not alcoholic. Fresh fruits like both red and green apples, pears and bananas, some almonds and some oak spice. There is also a dough like ringing of the overall nose. There is a subtle smell that is somewhat unpleasant for me but it is hard to define. (Edit: I think it is a young yeast note.) Not very special or complex but overall a pleasant nose.
Вкус67Oak dominates. There are sweet and fresh notes like, again, apples, pears and bananas but they are overwhelmed by the oak. I believe this is due to the first fill oak casks and the young age of the whisky. At higher aged core ranges, like 15, oak is not this dominant. It is drinkable, but not very pleasant or exciting. After some time, the excessive oak gets a bit more passive and whisky becomes more enjoable.
Финиш60Again, overwhelming oak; pepper and some green apple. Short to medium length.

Nose: Very fruity, slightly artificial, a little on gummy bears or jelly fruits, vanilla and only a little oak at the end Mouth: Very sweet, but also somehow bitter, strange. I think it's quite young with oak on it. Finish: Very harsh, almost bitter, strange.

In contradiction to what some others have said, I find this a pretty decent entry-level standard bottling. I wouldn't buy it, but not a bad choice for beginners who like their whisky sweet and accessible.

The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve has disappointed me. I've recently tried a Founder`s Reserve from Balvenie - I was probably a little biased and had presented me at the naming much more ... But for beginners, so to drank away may`s go.

Финиш75Here, the lack of dilution, youth and complexity is noticeable. Again vanilla and dough. Light wood. Lots of black pepper and then bitterness and a little bit of burning. Medium short length. Not very complex and amplified aromas.

Glenlivet Founder's Reserve, 40% Aroma: bread, yeast shades, vanilla, creamy candy. Simple, but not bad! Taste: sweet-vanilla, malty, with a citrus note. Finish: short, empty, slightly harsh, with a high content of obsessive bread colors, which obscured other nuances in the aftertaste. Conclusion: a banal, commercial whisky, with the annoying influence of malt echoes. Rating: 78 (n19, t19, f19, b21)

This really is a very simple drink, taking a long time in the nosing glass to develop a hint of aroma. In the mouth, you get a whole lot of spirit on your palate. Strong alcohol without the necessary barrel aging. With a bit of imagination, you can find nuances of pear, perhaps orange and vanilla. The finish is scratchy and short. Acceptable for the special offer price of €20, but nothing more. Update: In a second tasting, the Founder's Reserve with a drop of water per cl proved to be the subjectively best blend. I can therefore increase the score from 60 to 69.

The nose is quite distant, wood, flowery, nit thw mist inviting Taste better than nose but again quite shy to stand out and very soft, wood, fresh fruits, too smooth to my liking and almost closer to Irish Finish is short and slmehow fraquantic, not sure Inlike it. Not that bad, ok entry level but I would alwas soend couple euros more, this does not stad out in anything and is so easy to forget

Some lemon and leather as well as hints of perfume. All in all, tender fruity moments, which provide an interplay with dull, slightly dry aromas. Taste: Thin and soft starting, then even slightly spicy and spicy, but on a slightly watery base. Caramel notes stand out with leather, lemon juice and Williams Christ pear in the luggage. Melissa, herbs, butter and fresh peppermint are also included. Towards the finish slightly tart with young oak. Finish: Rather short with a tart and sweet, fresh edge. First revealed towards the end of 2014, the Founder's Reserve is now available in the UK and will be replacing the 12 year old in many of the mature markets despite initial indications that it would sit beside it, broadening the entry-level options. Named in tribute to distillery founder George Smith, it's packaged in Georgian blue.

Aroma: The nose is immediately sweet and fruity. Light vanilla, bright fruits, a bit artificial (like these Haribo peaches ). Overall, very round. Taste: The bright fruits come through again (also Haribo a bit), maybe pineapple. Very sweet, mild, harmonious, without corners and edges. Percent is missing here, because he seems almost a bit watery. finish: Short and not exciting. Something dry, malt and oak. Conclusion: The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve is the replacement for the old 12-year-old (whom I feel sprightly). Simple and unspectacular and may also appeal to those who do not usually like to drink whisky or just one who is very mild. For a price of about 30 €, the GLFR offers nothing special and does not necessarily have to be in the collection.

Simple, clean, straightforward, unspectacular everyday malt. Nice packaging and colour, not the one for the winter by the fire, more a spring/summer dram. Good value for money if you want a malt rather than a blend, and is probably aimed at that market. 77 points from me.

Nose  - Apple, light honey, floral and sweet.Taste - Sweet, light spice, honey, slight apple stew. I can taste in the background metallic first time I've came across it. Finish - Spicy finish Note - Easy going, nothing wrong with it but it's not great, it's too mild on the nose and mouth.
