По текстам отзывов Glengoyne 21-year-old предстаёт шери-доминированным или хорошо интегрированным шери-виски: повторяются ноты изюма, сухофруктов, орехов, кожи, специй, шоколада и кофе, иногда тёмных фруктов, вишни, ванили и дуба, с длинным тёплым финишем. Его называют хорошо сделанным, комплексным, «классическим»/«десертным», а также альтернативой Glendronach 18/21 и Glenfarclas 25, хотя часть авторов прямо говорит, что он уступает Glendronach или 18-летнему Glengoyne. Exactly the right malt for the now coming colder winter days. Heavy and full in taste it is ideal to be enjoyed by the fireplace :) For his "only" 43% he does ballet in his mouth! You have to take your time for this malt. I could smell it alone for an hour. In the mouth, he also needs his time to develop.

One dram note: 8.9 I just loved this dram! Very complex, soft, dark chocolate (not too strong) and something that reminds of the zoo. The strong odor of gorillas/lions/crocodiles. This might seem a little crazy, but it's exactly that odor that I'm tasting. Very different from anything else I've ever tasted. WANTED!

A very pleasant whisky, delicious, good and easy to drink, but still complex in the flavors, it always comes back to something new. Beautiful is the malty and the Sherry influence, which is not dominant, but still clearly felt.

The scent is the best thing about this whisky, the taste and finish seem to be slightly reduced by diluting to 43%. Nevertheless, a nice tasty 'sherried' whisky.

I’ll state this from the off - Glengoyne 21 year old is delicious. That out of the way, it’s worth highlighting the wonderful balance that’s been achieved between the sweeter notes and the deeper ones. High quality European oak has been used well here to add complexity and richness, whilst impressively still maintaining lightness and vivaciousness. not bad, but certainly not good.. not in the sense of lasting impressions and the will to buy a whole bottle.. also, makes a disappearing act, with the impressive aroma in the nose that promises a good flesh going away the second the liquid touches the tongue.. slightly bitter after-taste that is more slight than bitter.. but the nose is worth the price of the 3 cl sample - coffee and stately sherry, vanilla, the fruits of course and a soft wiff of rose.. also the smoke from roasted nuts and absolutely no burning alcohol sensation.

Perfect whisky. Despite the bitterness at the end, she is encouraging. Very delicate on the palate and pleasantly warming. I want to taste it with every sip and so on and on and on.

A good whisky, but I did expect a bit more. This is very nice and would serve great as an everyday drinking dram, but for that it is a bit too expensive. If you're looking for a real sherry bomb, than there's other cask strength stuff out there that'll cost you less. This Glengoyne 21 is a bit more subtle, which can be a good thing, but in this case it lacks a bit of character.

On the whole, this bottling is very successful, although I do not like the dominant harsh and dark wood tones in the aftermath. Likewise, I find the Glengoyne 21 with only 43% a little weak on the chest. The nose is auspicious, at the beginning of the first sip the world is still perfectly fine for me. Unfortunately, the sweet and fruity elements do not save themselves in the second part of the taste and the aftertaste. Here dominate the already mentioned bitter and slightly bitter wood flavors. Nevertheless, I do not want to talk bad about this malt and today award "only" 87 points. In any case, this Glengoyne gets the next few days a second chance.

Had this one in may/june 2016, blindly, and back then i did not fully appreciate this dram, so about time for a re-evaluation. I'm not gonna write down entire taste notes, since those are plenty here, and quite good ones i must add. I have to say, with plenty of air, it does have a beautiful elegance to it. nicely layered deep sherry wood whisky, although a little bite or kick would make it even better.

First of all, his problem is the 43%, what a shame, ... and the oak is too bad. But if you can handle it, you get an excellent whisky for the money. Complex for lukewarm. Compared to the 15 Fairy Flag, it is more on the dry, nutty sherry side.

A well-balanced single malt with a certain depth without overstraining. What the nose submits is unfortunately not confirmed in the taste. The oak is just tamed by the sweet flavors; a higher alcohol content would have done him good - 22.04.2017

A great 21 year old with a nose to kneel down, sherry harmoniously integrated, good waxy mouthfeel, large variety of flavors. The slightly alcoholic note disappears after some time. He is settled on the harsher side. You can deal with that every time anew. Not just for cigar fans a recommendation.

Вкус88Starts dry-spicy and quickly unfolds a distinct oak bitterness. A few very beautiful sherry gods shine through, reminiscent of walnuts and raisins.
Финиш88Nutty sherry, bittersweet coffee and spices are left behind on the palate. The strong oak spice pulls the finish in the length.

This is the latest bottling. The old bottling I rated 94/100 and it was sublime. Compared to the older bottling the nose is totally different. Young oak and tropical fruit, I am nervous and not hopeful about what this will actually be like. Oh dear, it's awful. New oak, very dry and very little flavour. What a total disaster, an abomination compared to what it used to be. Hardly fit to drink to be honest with you. A total waste of time. Dreadful stuff, and to think they have just increased the price. Incredible.

Нос90The nose doesn't seem to suffer from the low ABV or the chill filtering. It's deep and has a lot going on. Initially, a little solventy and woody (in a good, "great grandfather's workshop" kind of way) but given some time to breathe, we get dried fruits (raisins, dates), cacao, nuts, leather and a little orange zest. Just a few drops of water can develop the nose further and reveal some softer notes of toffee and vanilla, but be careful at 43 %. A nose that causes an involuntary smile pretty much every time I have a dram of this.
Вкус86Rum raisins, chocolate fudge, marzipan, a little curaçao. Not dissimilar to the nose, but some nuance is clearly lost here. The palette doesn't feel 21 years the way the nose does, and at the same time lacks a little oomph.
Финиш86Chocolate dominated finish, with some rum raisins and good quality marzipan. A little dry and woody, but fairly pleasantly so. --------------------------------------------- One can't help but wonder what this would be like non-chill filtered, and perhaps bottled at 46 %. There's no doubt quality here, but at the price, I won't be buying another bottle unless this gets a craft presentation in the future.

Great nose, complex and like a perfume. Significantly lighter in the mouth and an unexpectedly short finish. Always aromas of an old, well-aged sherry malt, a few more % would have helped a lot.

Complex flavors at a low ABV The watery texture and slightly hollow body can be a downside. But in contrast, the lower ABV might have allowed the aromas to balance better and muted any potential off-notes. What’s a bit disappointing is wondering—if this had just a bit more strength, how deep and long could the finish have been? That curiosity lingers.

Very pleasant to drink. Basically good quality. At first it is very rich, but at a certain point there is no more development. The wood components show up more by a general spiciness (up to bitterness), not as pleasant as in old sherry casks. Tasting with FineSpirits_butler1.

This is a good modern standard. No absence notes. The Sherry is not dry but very sweet - nevertheless it matches with the Glengoyne-character. Very enjoyable, very drinkable - quality complexity yet not too demanding.

Nice entry into the GG Sherry world. Of course, he is in all aspects a little weaker on the chest compared to the GG1998 or GG25. But a great value malt. You get a lot for your money here.

Нос89Typical sherry barrel notes. Dark fruits, in the sense of forest fruits and dates. With some candied orange and dried plum. Roasted nuts in the background, I tend to hazelnuts. No heavy sherry barrel ripening, so at most very subtle tobacco leaves. Alcohol not perceptible to me, so very well involved.
Вкус89First the typical sweetness. However, no raisins but rather date. Slight bitterness of the oak. But go very quickly into a nice spice. Ginger, clove and allspice, somewhere in this spectrum. Stimulates salivation and creates an oily, creamy mouthfeel. Towards the end I have vanilla notes and milk chocolate.
Финиш87Very slightly bitter, tart. Reminds me something about unsweetened mate tea. Now come subtle Schenk. Departure is quite long, pleasantly occupies only discreetly the mouth (tannins). But not very complex.

Spicy fragrance, very pleasant, with wood tones and the aroma of moist forest that I love so much. The taste is full and rich, strong sherry tones without being sweet. As you take more time, the whisky becomes softer, less sharp, more refined. The finish is warm, soft, barely dry, comfortable and long. Complex and challenging whisky, the first Glengoyne I like. Few specific taste notes, no apple, pineapple etcetera, but don't be fooled; this is excellent.

It is a good sherried whisky, not rich or deep and complex, but tasty. A bold nose leads the charge, but the palate is a bit thin and flavors play it safe. Finish is a tad tannic with a slight artificial strawberry flavor to me. For its price it is good for a 21 year.

This bottling is dated 12.9.2013 I must have got a good batch. Admittedly it was from one of the 20cl mini bottles that I know had been in the shop for at least four years. People seem to think this has changed, I don't know, I haven't had a recent bottling, just this fabulous old nectar which I prefer to any overpriced Macallan 18 or 21 sherry oak nonsense any day of the week. I'm just speechless at how tasty this is. None of the dryness or lack of finish many are commenting about which tells me this is an old bottling. This is just a juicy, fruity, explosion in the mouth, so moreish and delicious. Rich dark chocolate nose that wafts across the room, incredible..... taste is on cola, fruits, the wood is ancient but keeps a back seat to the stately fruit flavours and the sherry.... a hard trick to pull off with old sherry casks, to not let the old wood spoil it, it doesn't, it's perfect. This 20cl won't last another 10 minutes in all probability. The old bottlings of this are extraordinary. I've just opened a 20cl bottle that has been in the shop for at least four years. It had an incredible nose of dark chocolate which wafts across the room. The body is full with no off notes and there is ancient wood in here which does not dominate. There is something amazing like the taste of hot chocolate. And the finish is very satisfying. This is probably the best sherry monster malt on the market, beats the much more expensive and overhyped brand beginning with an M. Hunt out the old bottlings for this would be my friendly advice.

Rather sweet and soft nose. Jelly even, oranges, buttery and few spices. On the palate, also soft, too soft for my taste. It is well-rounded and mellow, maple syrup, but it doesn't offer that aha-moment some other 20-plus-year whiskies can deliver. It lacks complexity, so just drink it, enjoy it for what it is: A solid sherried whisky that's on the sweeter side.

On the nose again, raisins can be coffee/chocolate and dried fruit compote and a honey note, the taste is slightly sulphur and also dried fruit coffee and a little bit of honey. With water, a strong honey and vanilla nose, possibly fruity and a little alcoholic. Strong honey nose with a hint of apples on the palate. In short, it needs to stand and it has transformed. The aftertaste includes cranberries and red apples. A little soap tastes like I found it. On the nose there are also raisins and dried fruits, honey. I compared this latest version to earlier 21yo and have to say that I prefer more earlier version. This latest version lacks that great balance of beautiful sherry, toffee and fruity notes  what I loved in earlier version. This new version have some nice flowery, fruity and malty notes, even with some sherry. But where is that balance? Still this is nice whisky, but just nice.

n: opulent sherry nose , very warm with the expected dried fruits, vanilla and a good touch of oak that brings a pleasant dryness into the ring. loads of spices, ginger, cloves, red paprika powder,  ,a touch of leather and freshly ground coffee. t:  dryer then I would have expected, some people told me it was too sweet but I don´t think so. very much on malted notes, croissants, butter. rather spicy, cloves and cinnamon. coffee and a little dark chocolate. the oak is a little loud. f:  medium to long , rather dry, hazelnuts and chocolate. comments: good whisky by all means but it lacks some complexity to be a true belter. 88/100

Nose: Sherry! So this means raisins, wood polish and some leather. This is a quality sherried well aged whisky. There is also a bit of wood influence to be found here. Taste: Coffee, dark chocolate, sweet strawberries with chocolate dip. Sherry. Some sour notes coming through as well, but nothing unpleasant. Body: Full a bit dry. Finish: Medium- long. Dry. Sherried with some lemonjuice. Also the wood pops up here again. Price: Under 100 euro's, which is a bargain these day's. Presentation: Well done, Stylish and yet not overdone. Comments: Don't add water imho. I added 1.5ml on a 35ml pour and drowned it.

Rich, sweet and fruity sherry dominates the weighty nose, with additional hints of rum-soaked stollen cake, woody oak and some fresh herbs. Lovely and warming! Slightly thin and lacking depth on the palate (a rich, fruity profile such as this really suffers from being watered down in my opinion), although the sherry casks still impart some lovely deep fruity and nutty notes. The base spirit struggles to make much of an impact, however. Drying and woody finish, although the sherry fruits reemerge and linger on the palate. A very good, albeit straightforward, well-aged sherry cask malt. It's a great pity, especially given the high prices being charged in the current climate, that it isn't bottled at a higher strength.

Obviously there are extreme differences between the batches here. Either that or my daily form was bad at this blind tasting several years later. The rating is the average of the tastings. Нос84A nice, dark fruit note (pickled fruit) greets you immediately after pouring. With an idea of cognac and a hint of herbs. If you take the glass off your nose, a very strong grain note remains for a few moments. After a while, the fruits (peaches and plums) are even more saturated! the cognac is gone, the herbs too, instead I find leather. Alcohol bites a little with hand warmth, then unfortunately soap comes, the fruits become lighter. The herbs come back, strong acidic notes complement the whole.
Вкус82The consistency is quite thin, but the start is quite strong, a good pinch of white pepper frames the slightly sour fruits in honey. There are also noticeably bitter notes to the rear, again towards dry herbs. In the second sip, the sweetness comes much later, but a brandy note is dominant here right from the start. The acidity is more moderate, the fruits darker, burnt caramel.
Финиш83In the finish it dries further, the acid remains a little bit, overall medium long. He definitely saw oak. A little sweeter in the second sip.

S 7 Almost like nosing an Oloroso. Deep, rich dried fruit & spicy. Interestingly, Many of the sherry casks Glengoyne used are made with American oak. [86-89] YES!!! One to be tasted and remembered for years. N 27 Deep and rich, well-aged. Dark fruit (plum, cherry). Raisin. Oak spices. A touch of zingy citrus. Vanilla. P 27 Creamy, deep sherry. Dark fruit develops into candied malt over time. Winter spices and wood. A touch of menthol at the back but completely smoothened. F 27 Mid-long finish. Dried fruit. Wine tannin & winter spices. Some nuts. A whiff of candied fruit lingering.

used to sell for just a little over $100 here in my country, but the price has since gone up. a good everyday dram, well balanced, clean and deep good quality sherry notes, it won’t blow you away but it’s a good enough dram for the price. crisp oloroso sherry, and stewed fruits make up most of this whisky, not as good as glendronach, but not as expensive either

I find this 21yo a super clean/rounded & faultless sherry driven malt, and that’s about all.

A whisky with a wonderful nose followed by a palate and finish that are just slightly too thin and begging for a touch more sweetness. Don't get me wrong this is still very good but had this been bottled at 46% ABV and non-chillfiltered it could have been exceptional. Value (£100) : 5/10

This drop is one of the reasons why I'm a "fanboy" of the distillery. Complexity, balance, perfection. After the design change, the price has now increased significantly, and this PLV filling was technically one of the best that was available on the market. Yes, you have to like strong Oloroso ripening and be tolerant of the intense influence of European oak - at the back, properly woody-dry-bitter. And so it is good that the malt is "only" bottled at 43% - this intensity could overwhelm you at cask strength. The 43% is often criticized, but I can't think of many bottlings that conjure up such a presence with 43% on the tongue and in the finish. Gets even better with every sip. Especially considering the long prevailing issue price of ~ 100 €, this bottling can only be in the 90 point region. Compared to the 25yo, 28yo and 30yo there is another difference in quality, but the prices here are also in many areas. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that Glengoyne can maintain this quality over time. Then it would be worth a few euros more to me ...

Exotic wood, just varnished. Beautiful charcoal scale. Nuts, hazelnuts, cashews, peanuts. Raisins. After a while the Sherry takes off, Christmas pudding, caramelized tarte tatin, scoop of vanilla ice cream, cinnamon. You can really feel the caress of the hot air that has malted the barley for hours. Some exotic fruits, kiwi, lychee. From Quince jam. Coconut. In the mouth, it's really good, still nutty, with apricot, slight acidity, spices, paprika, saffron, nutmeg. Prickly pear. Very woody finish, really long, on tinder, Armenian paper. Chocolate and coffee. Chicory. Dry earth and fatty coal. Mate. Nice gentle sherried Glengoyne, but it lacks a bit of punch compared to some single cask Glengoynes which are bottled at cask strength. A bit too easy too drink in my opinion, a higher ABV would have benefited this one I think.

Glengoyne is a mild sherry whisky. The Sherrynoten are clearly present, but not dominating everything. The age is noticeable in the mildness and balance, not in the oak or the intensity. The smell is very gentle, the taste is a bit superficial and makes me slightly disappointed, but the finish is great and the memory stays long. Anyone hoping to find an overflowing sherry grenade in the style of a Glendronach will be disappointed. If this is too much, but who still likes to drink a ripe sherry whisky, that's right here. I prefer intense and powerful. Nevertheless, the Glengoyne gets 87 points from me , because without any doubt this is a great single malt.

In order for this whisky to show its full potential, I advise you to pour it in and let it "breathe" in the glass for 30 minutes. This makes him richer and he comes across better balanced. Furthermore, it is a classic sherry bomb that is rich, intense but also well balanced. Wonderful for a cool summer evening at a crackling campfire.

Just let the whisky do the talking..We could spend hour after hour talking about the body, nose, taste, structure, finish and so on but not with this one..i just don’t feel like when i smell this.. Just pour yourself a dram, let it sit and breath for about 30 minutes. No for real...let it sit for this amount of time. Don’t you touch it. Not just yet. Find yourself the most comfortable position possible and just enjoy without a single word...oh man what a dram! Best 95 euro’s ever spent! This is what whisky supposed to be.

Great whisky! An intense and heavy sherry malt, as I like it. Fruity, spicy, slightly herbaceous, very complex. For me a good alternative to Glendronach 18 and probably also 21, better than the Glenfarclas 25.

Нос90The nose still has the heather and honey notes of the 18-year-old, but here there's an undeniable focus on European-oak sherry butts. We've now crossed over into 100% sherry maturation. Consequently, this is darker, bolder, and more elegantly bitter than its younger siblings. Really rich and refined, with espresso, liquorice, umami, and assorted chocolate-covered nuts. If we compare this to rival products in the same price/age range, this one is softer than the 21-year-old Glendronach Parliament, but it boasts a cleaner and drier (Oloroso) sherry influence. As far as the oak-forward and mature nose is concerned, it's about on par with the 25-year-old Glenfarclas, though more sherry-driven and perhaps ever so slightly less multifaceted. There is some batch variation, to be sure, but the right kind of bottle can crack 90 on the nose.
Вкус88Deep, dark chocolate; the whisky equivalent of Tartufo ice cream and mousse au chocolat. Perhaps a bit thin: once I had this blind and thought it was bottled at 40%. So it's soft alright, but hey, sometimes you're in the mood for a well-aged, elegant sherried single malt that doesn't need to be tampered with and watered down to juuuuuust the right level of dilution but instead can be enjoyed exactly as it is poured – and this is precisely that. Immaculate balance between soft, sweet, and tart flavors, all on sherry and oak with just a bit of acidity thrown in. Perhaps the 18-year-old is a tad more vibrant and interesting, but this is still a lovely, well-sherried and affordable bottling that I know I will return to again and again. Utterly charming and reliable.

An outstanding malt, which stands out for its amazing depth, complexity and very sensitive tuning of the individual components. Despite the very mature age, the distilling character is not covered by the barrels. With between 70 and 90 EUR (absolute recommendation in the Travel Value with partly 70 EUR!) Also very attractively priced. A must have.

A tad thin, but otherwise beautiful nose. Old-style, dry Oloroso and European-oak character. Intriguing, evanescent florals, thick stewed and/or dried fruits (plums, figs, cherries). Balsamic reduction, meat broth, soy sauce, sauteed mushrooms in Teryaki sauce, all kinds of umami. Oh boy, this would kill at a higher strength... The taste suffers a bit from the low ABV, especially toward the death, where the mouthfeel and the aromas drop off and become too thin. A sad moment, because before that, there‘s a lot of joy to be had, with rich, oaky and sherry-laden cavalcades of flavor. There‘s enough earthy, leafy, fruity sherry to prolong the experience into a long, teeth-coating finish, but the oak is curiously silent at the end. I would’ve welcomed some more pronounced coffee-and-cocoa notes at the death. All in all, I prefer the nose over the palate in this one. Excellent whisky for anyone who wishes Glenfarclas would use less refill casks and push the sherry more, but be advised: the GF 25, at roughly the same price, boasts a more nuanced palate and a better/bigger body.

Great and extremely promising nose. But then too weak in the mouth. Cherries, raspberries, slowly coming roasted nuts with intense vanilla. Cake counter, raisin snails! With time, the flavors will darken. leather, tobacco, wood. If you give the dram a lot of time, the aroma profile grows many times over. Old men's room, Nasser Steg, wax, forest, fruits, berries, insanely complex! This is real nosing dram. Quite thick in the first sip with fruity accents of cherry and chocolate. Subtly bitter. On the tongue but round and cuddly. Wood takes over with fruity accents. Unfortunately, unfortunately, unfortunately, an intensity that is not too high anyway is quickly lost on the tongue. The finish, however, convinces long-lasting, warm with mild pepper aromas.
