not a bad whisky - a little too thin for the advanced Malthead and so the price tag is pretty absurd - but someone will buy the stuff already - a fake of that would be worth max 60-70 €

Good, but I'm not impressed. For the proclaimed price of well over 100, - certainly not. The nose is still the best, in the mouth he falls off against it.

Color: dark amber with a copper tint Aroma: The first catch that, what my favorite tobacco leaf right there, it is wet and stringy noble. Rawhide and excellent pickles. Here and cucumbers with dill and garlic, mushrooms and mushrooms shaft. Soft and moist oak evident later, when he figured out the first wave of the complex and rich bouquet, and walnuts are just suppressed, and they have identified oil and fresh vanilla muffins. Dates, prunes, Turkish delight and even some oriental sweets, not even identify. Aroma gorgeous! Taste: Soft oak delicately begins, he freshly sawn stump acidic and bitter bark. Marinades here barely make their way, they are somewhere in the depths, as well as sweets which were very noticeable in the aroma. Fresh bread with cream rustic and later tobacco leaf. The aftertaste: very long, first sour and sweet tooth at the same time, the sweetness of sugar such straight, then slightly bitter oak tree. Here again appear light notes of tobacco, but very little. Wood, cream and sugar sweetness for a long time remain. Conclusion: you know, a swirling scotch. Since autumn good at it, and it is changing. If not for the high price, you could buy more and enjoy, as well as the price of its main disadvantage. If compared with the 18-tuple, it wins on balance and wholeness. But Cigar Malt approximately equal. Rating: 8.8

Many complain that something is missing and that it is too simple. Also because of. Some of the 40% are moaning. But I have to say NO, it still comes across very well. A great whisky if it weren't for the price. Because the PLV doesn't fit at all. The oldest barrel definitely not older than 10 to 13 years. And then colored. Phew. Sorry Dalmore.

rather boring, lots of fruit, but quite flat on the nose. Too thin, what a pity, overwhelming fruit basket in the mouth. Could work for beginners very well. Too expensive for what you get

Nose: wood, wood, wood. very disappointing. Mouth: very good depth and complexity with nuts and dried fruits. At the same time though, some bitter and acrid wine notes come through and they don't work for me.

This tasty bottle was on my list for quite a while just couse of it's story and cask combination. And boy it did not disappoint.

A pleasant whisky with plenty of dark (red) fruit. It reminded me of the Aberlour 16 in a good way.

Pure garbage for its price. I remember this one used to go for 300+ CAD. Very very watery and there is an unpleasant bitterness at the end.

Lots of different impressions, quite well-balanced. Smell different from taste, sweetness vs dryness. Only the price should be 2x less.

With such a complex blend, you can feel the varied aromas passing the buck. Red fruits, cherry, apple, redcurrant, gingerbread, blueberry, blackberries, vanilla, hazelnut. On the palate, it is just as complex, but above all woody. Resin, varnish, a little damp bark, moss, pepper, cloves. Molasses, sweet paprika and cinnamon, blood orange. Caramel and heather earth in a fairly long finish. Pine cones, nutmeg, dark chocolate, chestnut. Slightly earthy. Heavy sherry aromas flow from the nosing glass: blood orange, peach, dried fruit, woody, very voluminous and elegant. Every now and then, marzipan, vanilla, chocolate and spices shimmer through. For a Dalmore it seems too "clean" to me, blindly I would have thought of Tamdhu or Glenallachie. In the mouth it is very intense for the very low alcohol content, a few older barrels have definitely gone into it. At the same time chocolaty and spicy. The finish lines the entire mouth with aromatic oak and dried fruits, which last for a relatively long time. Very chocolatey towards the end. Length: 6/10 Perfect Christmas painting that proves that even NAS and 40% can be fun. Note 1-

Again a Dalmore which is a bit of a shame because it has unfortunately been watered down. What should 40% and dye in the price segment? I like it best in the nose, a great balanced and multi-layered profile. Unfortunately then as feared once again a slightly watered down Dalmore in the mouth - what a shame. All in all, of course, a good malt, but not at the price.

It's easy to drink, with not many unpleasant flavors. However, it lacks a strong sense of enjoyment, the flavors are chaotic and unclear. It's like a jumbled mess of barrels that hasn't been properly blended. Notes date: 20220927 Reference price (based on rating): CNY 1100

For me all three aspects are great, but the taste is the clear winner in my book. Delicious expression from Dalmore, probably the best one I've tasted from them.

Deep brown, he stands in the glass, almost like my apricot liqueur, which happens to be here. Oh, I realize, there is a lot to discover. Rather sweet notes, heavy sherry, sweet oak. A first sip is soft, very aromatic, again the sherry is in the foreground, a little clove, now comes also vanilla. In the finish a little spicier, not too long. Overall ok. Dalmore is not one of my favorites ...

After several attempts, we just do not get warm. In the mouth still a pleasant oily mass, but then come hardly any flavors. It remains with the medium-long to short nondescript finish. Completely disappointed me or the expectations were not met. Only the forest berry note is perhaps still very interesting. For the price just too expensive.

A really interesting single malt with many aspects that is very "easy" to drink; the finish disappointed me a little.

Very interesting on paper and in the nose, unfortunately loses its taste and finish - presumably because of the low alcohol content. Unfortunately not recommended in the PLV.

Just bland, modern, overpriced sherry whisky...I don't like any of the standard range whiskies, I prefer a Secret Speyside 1973 or 76 and it only costs twice or three times as much, it's 100 times better value for money...or in the same price range a Glendronach 21jg Parliament if you don't want to pay more than €200-300 for a whisky. I like the look of Dalmore, so I always have a few bottles with me for guests who have no idea what good whisky is, they like it and are happy, so Dalmore also serves its purpose ????

An aromatic, spicy first impression characterized by wood notes, spices and dry plums. Then it continues with fruity sherry flavors, a hint of orange and dry fruits. The whole playfully interwoven. Looks elegant and mature. Warm, aromatic and spicy on the palate with a little dark chocolate and fine wood notes and spices. Also this time it softens quickly but without appearing watered down. A hint of tart with lots of woody aromas in the finish. sweetish-tart and becoming clearly dry. After a while, slight sweetness and slightly fruity notes develop, a little sherry and malt.

Blind mystery tasting. Maybe this is just too different from my regular whisky but this stuff is definitely not for me, which is lucky given what the price I found it to be.

The taste seems to be obviously good, complex and tart, but is let down by the excessive bitterness. Overall, it's a fairly typical Dalmore, hard to distinguish from anything else equally sherry-like. 22 22 21.5 21.5

Very sweet, no unpleasant flavored product. The disadvantage is that it is slightly lighter, and it is very friendly to newbies.

I finally have him in my glass, the Dalmore King Alexander III. Most of you probably know the almost legendary videos from Master Blender Richard P., how he swirls whisky in a glass and then pours it on the carpet, dilutes his already too diluted whisky with more water and then sticks his nose into the glass. I just say "Hello ... how are you?". This whisky is in the higher price segment (150+ euros), has only 40% alcohol content and is also colored and without indication of age. Actually, that would be enough reasons for me to avoid this whisky. But 6 different barrels in a whisky, that makes you curious. And there are also many whisky lovers who praise this whisky in the highest tones. Let's see what the Dalmore King Alexander III offers and whether I like it. The presentation looks quite nice. A nice box and a bottle with an impressive deer emblem and a dark whisky, the dye did a great job (sorry, it had to be now). In the nose, the Dalmore is initially stronger than I would have expected with only 40% alcohol. Aromas of dates, raisins, plum jam, figs and cherries immediately come out of the glass. A heavy, dark fruitiness combines with a great honey sweetness with vanilla sugar and then spices such as pepper and cinnamon as well as clear oak flavors come through immediately and give the whole thing a spicy-woody touch. I hear notes of dark chocolate with fruit, similar to the Lindt chocolate with raspberry filling. There is a lighter fruitiness with mirabelle plums, apricots and oranges over the rather heavy flavors. A touch of leather and tobacco round off the variety in the nose and I have to say that I have enjoyed the Dalmore King Alexander III so far. Unfortunately, the wood goes too much in the direction of the Bauhaus wooden beams and is too dominant. In the mouth the whisky is quite soft as expected, but still has a stronger start than I would have expected. Pepper and a slight ginger spiciness are clearly noticeable and while the fruitiness and honey sweetness spread, the tannins from the oak barrels are more and more present and the dark chocolate tends to move towards espresso. Tobacco and leather provide further bitter aromas, a slight bitterness is noticeable. Associations with wet forest floor and wet wood arise, but fortunately only discreetly and in the end when it comes to the finish. The whisky looks watered down. It is quite sharp at the start and the alcohol content on the tongue seems hardly chosen too low. But the strength, the fullness, the intensity are missing. The finish is medium long with strong spiciness and tannins of the oak barrels. Tobacco, leather, some wet wood and chewed coffee beans make for a very slight bitterness. In the background the fruitiness and heavy sweetness resonate, but the tart notes set the tone here. Overall, I liked the whisky in the nose and in the mouth solala. This light touch of wet wood, tobacco or forest floor bothers me a little here. In the mouth, the whisky is watered down and comes out sharp and strong on the tongue, but it lacks the fullness in the mouth and the intensity of the aromas. The only great thing about the low alcohol content is that you could "chew" the whisky in your mouth for 5 minutes without it burning in your mouth. The whisky gets almost 85/100 points from me. A whisky that is so gentle that it could also please non-whisky drinkers ... but the tannins may then be too violent for non-whisky drinkers. And the price? Well ... for comparison: I recently had a Glenlivet SV in the glass, which only cost 2/3 of the Dalmore, but is in a higher league ... or 2 leagues higher. Therefore: No purchase recommendation for this price! Addendum: The bottle is now only half full and the oxygen seems to do the Dalmore good. The wood is no longer in the Bauhaus direction and there is hardly any wet wood left. In the mouth it doesn't look as watered down as before. Of course, it will not be an intense whisky with the alcohol content, but overall it looks rounder and a bit fuller than before. Overall, I like it better now, so I'll adjust the rating accordingly: Smell: 88 instead of 87 points Taste: 85 instead of 83 points Departure: 85 instead of 84 points Overall: 86 instead of 85 points

Ach, it's all been said before... Great quality distillates, proper age (even though it's not stated), expertly blended, lovely old, musty, woody sherry nose, but the low ABV torpedoes all the fun. Furiously frustrating. One for the relatives, or malt novices; they'll be duly impressed.

A whisky worth buying on sale, but at regular price, it loses some value. While it lacks standout characteristics, it's an easy and enjoyable drink.

Dalmore King Alexander III, 40%. Very dark colour. Aroma is milky oak, slight tinned peach, quite oaky rather than fruity. Slightest bit mousy. Taste is very juicy, a touch over-watered-down perhaps - a common complaint for Dalmore, lots of berry fruit, lots of spice into the finish. Warming rich juicy rounded fruit, loads of balance. No rough edges here at all it's all luxurious subtle and rich and then the finish becomes more spicy and oaky with cinnamon and clove. Importantly for my tastes this is not all just sherry - it has more spice and biscuity notes. The oak isn't overdone it's just supportive. Yeah the flavour is very good. Wasnt expecting it to be as good as it is. Pity it's so expensive. (3.85/92)

It's not bad, but it really doesn't have anything extra, nothing that justifies this price. Notes on the verge of being really disturbing at times.

Quite drinkable - quite OK

It's a decent wine, but the alcohol content is low and its distinctive characteristics are not apparent.

The nose is the best thing about the malt. A few percent more would certainly not have hurt that. Far too expensive for the price shown. Especially since it is 40% watered down, colored and chill filtered.

81-85 – Wow, really good one

a little too much of the good in terms of barrel selection (ex-sherry, ex-port and ex-Madeira casks), a little too little of the good in terms of maturity (at least in part) ...

A light and beautiful whisky. I think a few more percentages would have done him good. The nose promised more than what you had in terms of taste, but it was still a very tasty and pleasant drop.

A pretty dry thing, but nice and oily. Tastes like dark fruits and toffee. Towards the end then for my taste a change direction tobacco. The also present sherry notes are similar to those of the Aberlour A'Bunadh. Interesting whisky and pleasant to drink.

It used to be a favorite of mine, but now it's too expensive and weak. I wish it came with 10% more alcohol... Who has changed more? Dalmore or me? Probably both of us.

I think the wine casks are quite dominant here. Thats not a bad thing this seams to be well put together. I have never really been a fan of Dalmore but I have to say this is a very enjoyable whisky. Sweet and fruity, Red wine, Rich and spicy and also some Vanilla. You really can pick the casks out that went into this. Such a shame this wasn't at 43 or 46%

Nose:- Complex with floods of aromas evolve and emerge over the breathing time. Firstly pleasant green leafy fragrance with fresh petals, like soft cologne for men. Secondly follow by a touch of lime, and lastly a puff of white pepper. This is arousing stuff. Palate:- Nothing less compare to the aroma. Complex but well manner. This dram know how to take his time to show you his true character. Well structure, rich on fruits and packed with nutty essence. Touch of vanilla essence at the back of the throat on the finish. Finish:- Sweet and spicy finish, cap with touch of long lasting vanilla. Gum twitching. Hmm, refill my glass please. — at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

This whisky is an average whisky. Not that good and far too expensive for the quality it brings you. Pity !

King Alexander III is so nearly a triumph. The nose is delightful and welcoming, the arrival (especially for 40% ABV) is an explosion of wonderful flavours, the mid-palate a well-balanced melange of complex fruits and spices. But, the lack of any substantive finish at all means that as soon as your taste buds have got to the party, your mother turns up and drags you away from it. This hollowness is a real shame as everything else about this whisky screams both quality. I am pleasantly surprised not this Dalmore, not that it corresponds to the profile that I seek, but especially that as a whole all this remains coherent and rather good. We can logically complain about the reduction at 40%, it's still a lot / too much! Another black point is the price, more than 100 €, I pass my turn!

This involves six finishes, including port and sherry. 2015 N: Lots of different sherries here culminating in raisins, dates, prunes, etc...... Six finishes inevitably brings lots to the table culminating in a real charmer. T: Sherried, fruit cake, sponge like, baked sugars, rather woody with a complexity that six different finishes would suggest. Richard says, hold it in underneath the tongue, but its the same either way,..... F: Lots of vatted sherry talking, resulting in perfumed sultanas but with some deep, dank notes that suggest quite some age here too. C: Blended to please the occasional drinker and a discerning audience. Its lovely stuff, but 'a multiple orgasm' it ain’t - ahem. Scores a B- 2013 N: Sherried cocoa, meaty stewed tomatoes, wood, banana, pineapple and citrus along with a musty note. Caramel for sure [40%!], vanillas and some delicate malt peaking through. More bananas, sherries liquor sweets and some bubblegum - often although not always, a sign of tired casks. T: Its an odd delivery - all the various [6 casks] creating an unusual and confusing arrival. Dandelion and burdock initially, then sherry [madeira] appears, developing into more of a familiar Pedro sherry wood nose. Some wine in the form of berries comes through last. An orange [Glenlivet] note and some pepper and more old wood showing. Adding water highlights the orange sweets and helps even things out if thats what you're into. F: Raspberry Tunes [cough/cold sweets] override almost everything else.  Only caramel peaks through. Water unites the dram into a sweet fruity caramel woody spice number although diluting from 40% makes the body rather flat. C: Best not to analyse this too much.  Enjoy what you can of this because its a bit of an unbalanced mashup. Lots to discover here and an education in itself - but im not sure id pay more than £40 for this, let alone £120 [2013]. Once the palate has experienced the bourbon, sherry and wine casks, the finish is only moments away.  An odd ball, reminding me of Old Parr 12 WB, good in some areas and flat in others. This Dalmore is better than the Parr most certainly, but not by an extra £100. Scores a C

Simply OK but nothing special. You expect something special with that bottle its marketing and presentation but the result is just boring. The nose is good with some fruity notes and the taste is also not too bad. The finish is a bit bitter and also not very long. For this money so many more options on the market... Or I just do not like Dalmore!?

Herbal and herbal scents! Nettle, currant leaf, chamomile, shade of needles. In addition, black currants, red wine (cabernet), dark chocolate, caramel, honey, vegetable oil, glue, a little sulfur. Mineral, with a sour aftertaste.

Tasty malt, without question. For me taste a bit thin and priced too high. I would prefer something else.
