Положительная сторона. В отзывах хвалят влияние Мадейры, фруктовость, сладость и дымность, называют виски «очень сложным и многогранным», «лучшим AD, что я пробовал», «успешным розливом» и отмечают «столько характера в шесть лет». Отдельно один из отзывов хвалит современный стиль дистиллерии, сочетание торфяного и неторфяного спирта, сладкий солод, прибрежную свежесть, цитрус и сдержанный дым; ещё один отзыв отмечает фруктовость (оранж, мармелад), кислотность, сухофрукты, изюм, коричневый сахар, лёгкую прибрежную свежесть и винные ноты после воды. Другой отзыв описывает сложный, нелёгкий виски с тёмными нотами (кофе, карамель, бульон, лук), специями, мандарином и ананасом, металлическим и слегка сернистым носом, а во вкусе — дым, коричневый сахар, гриль-ананас, шоколад, морские ноты, пластиковый оттенок и алкогольную резкость. Есть редкие и противоречивые отзывы: (74) — плохая интеграция и много горьких нот, Мадейра не дополняет дух; (83) — дух и бочка «борются», диссонанс, кислая нота; один из отзывов — конфликт носа и вкуса (без воды вкус хуже, с водой лучше); ещё один отзыв — «слишком сладко», финиш «очень короткий и пустой»; другой отзыв — баланс испорчен активными бочками; (80) — «бюджетный лёгкий питер», личная оценка 68. Welcome to the era of Madeira. While the nose is certainly not bad (pretty good actually), I struggle with the taste. Sub-optimal integration, and many bitter flavours. The Madeira finish (again) doesn't compliment or enhance the AD spirit, nor does it match their identity, i.m.o.

To me an unusual Ardnamurchan. I can't seem to find much of the usual distillery profile, maybe a bit in the soft peat. I think water does wonders to this one.

| Нос | 84 | Bitter red currant. More like dry red wine than Madeira. Very faint earthy peat. Compared to the clean crispy nose of their bourbon casks this seems dirty and a bit funky, in a good way. Water softens it considerably. Sweeter, less bitter, more peat. |
| Вкус | 85 | Oily texture. Arrives with light spice that grows all the way to the finish line. Red berries on bitter wood notes. Water really brings out the sweetness and takes the sting and length out of the spice. |
| Финиш | 86 | It twists it's way into a really nice cherry liquor at the very end. I say twist because at first it felt like it was going totally dry and bitter, but then it fades into sweetness. With water it's more of a normal fade with lots of sweetness. |

The whisky initially matured for approximately five years in ex-bourbon ASBs. Afterwards, 38 casks of unpeated whisky and 28 casks of peated whisky were transferred to Madeira casks and finished in them for approximately two years. All of the original casks were filled in 2018 and bottled in January 2025. It is therefore somewhere between six and seven years old. glen-efze.de

The standard and the cask strength versions of Ardnamurchan left me wanting more. I have sofar believed this distillery had been massively overrated, but after this I might change my mind.

Very earthy peat (not my favorite) but luckily fruits also penetrate it: grapes, apples and strawberry, a lot of strawberry. I an also sense honey, vanilla and caramel. It is pretty complex for such a young malt. Kudos! |
| Вкус | 87 | Wow, very buiscuity. Honey, bread, malt and barleysugar. Coffee and dark chocolate make their way too. Very delicious. There is some smoke and wood. Slight saltiness make it more complex. Very good |
| Финиш | 83 | Probably this is the weakest part. It is not particularly long, but still reasonable. Peat returns with woodiness and salt. Not much fruitiness remains here, but its not a problem. |

This actually leaves me somewhat conflicted; Without water: smells great, but the taste doesn't even come close to the aroma from the nose. With water: "average fruitiness" on the nose, but significantly better in taste. Um, yeah, well... I'll rate this without adding water.

Tasting note on www.longpouramour.com on 14 March 2025. My conclusion: "Very complex and multifaced Ardnamurchan. A step up from the more difficult Sauternes and Rum releases, both seeming less integrated than this Madeira Cask Release. The balance is impressive and the combination feels natural. Good effort here!"

Yes, you can tell this is a young whisky, but it's not a particularly negative thing—just the sharpness in the taste is a bit unpleasant. It's still nicely intense, though. The Madeira influence is clear and present, with some slight weaknesses in the finish. A bit of youth comes through at the end, but it's still tasty. It lacks complexity, but that's not what you'd expect.

I really enjoyed the prevvious version of this, but here the spirit and cask seem to fight each other, with the outcome a little discordant. Don't think I'll buy as bottle, even though I enjoy the majority of what they produce.

Found this one hot, but when tamed, it has a creamy texture, sweet, but not too sweet for my palate. Nutty like I get a lot with Madeira casks.

This was a sample courtesy of Peatbogger. A big fan of Ardnamurchan, they seem to be doing everything right and this is another solid release.

| Нос | 86 | This is a good balance here and it's a take it easy and no rush balance. Soft red fruits just marinade in the subtle peat. I'm getting ice cream notes and the cone. Cherry ice lolly, bubblegum and medicine. With water the balance is knocked because the peat goes hiding. |
| Вкус | 87 | Again the balance is good but slightly in favour of the peat. For 52% it's quite palatable. Personally this could have been a bit more dry, it had all the signs. With water it's just a bit more pleasurable to drink. |

A successful bottling in my opinion. The Madeira influence is clearly noticeable. A lovely fruitiness with a sweet-sour interplay, combined with the light peat, produces a good result. Finish is medium-long at most.

Nose A noticeable burst of smoke right from the start. Behind it, dry and spicy tobacco. Then sweetness emerges. Vanilla, slightly darkened by the wood. The Madeira influence is perceptible, but not overpowering. Pipe tobacco completes the picture. It doesn't feel young at all. Rather, it's fresh and vibrant. The taste Surprisingly mild on the palate. At 52% ABV, I would have expected more punch. Smoke is immediately present, accompanied by tobacco and a pleasant pepperiness. The second sip changes things somewhat. The smoke recedes, making way for white pepper. The balance between smoke, spice, and sweetness is remarkably well achieved. Conclusion Very cool, and another Ardnamurchan who casually shows how much character one can have at the age of six.

Come on Ardnamurchan, you can do better! The Madeira cask really plays a minor role in this whisky. One of the many young whiskies that has relatively little to offer besides a quite pleasant smokiness.

{Blind tasting} Perhaps the drums weren't the best, all the components have a musty, stagnant feel, which significantly reduces the overall impression of the release, and no matter what its merits are (and they certainly exist, a good palette, and subtle halftones and depth are present), overall you are already filled with some disappointment.

As with all Ardnamurchans, the great potential is evident here. The Madeira casks are excellent, only the alcohol could be a little better integrated. However, the same bottling with 12 or more years of maturation could be a real hit.

A very successful single malt from Ardnamurchan. My husband and I like it very much. I give it 89 points, and my husband even gives it 90. I will definitely buy another bottle :)

A tasty, slightly sweet malt with lots of spices. I like it quite a bit, but it's nothing special. The Madeira flavor is there, but not overpowering.

Aroma: Red berries, orange marmalade and a fresh citrus note, plus spicy aromas, a slightly sour component and a hint of smoked bacon, some dirty smoke completes the picture. Taste: Again red berries, accompanied by a slight spiciness, pastry-like aromas and roasted almonds provide a charming sweetness, a slightly sour and bitter note emerges in the background. Finish: Rather short to medium length, spicy and bitter with licorice, red berries and a mineral smoke. Conclusion: An exciting, interesting and varied dram with rough edges but a bit uneven for my taste.

Dried wheat, light breeze, some ripe fruit, pears, lychees. Hairspray, fresh tobacco leaves, a hint of peat, heather honey, mellow vanilla, a hint of lemon. Peach pits, young wood, cooked apples, greengages jam. On the palate, it's quite thick, honeyed, apple pie, cake batter, well-placed spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, paprika. Fairly long finish, melted caramel, tobacco crumbs, malty touches, royal jelly. Warm honey, molasses, smoked tea. A sugar cube dipped in a wine sauce. It's a good job, but given the price and the distillery's growing reputation, I expected more. In comparison with the 1st madeira release, this one seems to be simple and edgy. Really dry and peppery. Madeira cask influence is almost negligible. Just a guess - could these madeira casks be the same used for the first release? Not bad, but I will most likely skip the purchase this time.

Cherries! Earlier this year, I attended a full-blown Ardnamurchan masterclass at Bar Terroir, Jeroen from Care 4 Craft Spirits' regular tasting spot. One of the highlights for me at that tasting was this 6-year-old, finished in Madeira casks and bottled at a higher ABV. Lovely color, by the way. On the nose, this malt is a bit funky, if you know what I mean. Besides a good amount of red fruit—no doubt from the Madeira cask finish—I also get hints of peat and sweet chestnuts, milk chocolate, and Café Noir biscuits. There's something else I can't quite put my finger on, but for some reason, it reminds me of a swimming pool… Doh?! Oily on the palate and immediately deliciously sweet. Again, that red fruit (cherry!) combined with a soft bitter note, woodsmoke, and a spicy spiciness. Cloves, oregano, pepper. Gently drying. The finish is its trump card. Long, spicy, and sweet with a hint of cherry liqueur on the deathbed. I'd be lying if I said I still recognize the distillery character in this malt. The Madeira cask influence is simply too intense. But when it's this good, you won't hear me complaining. Highly recommended!

| Вкус | 87 | More intense than the nose. Salt and algae are added to the aroma. The smoke is very pleasant. Alcohol isn't too overpowering, it pairs perfectly. Salt. All in all a beautiful balanced fruity sweetness. |
| Финиш | 83 | Relatively short, dismantle quickly. Nice, already complex whisky, Not too complicated, delicious! |

Not a thorough review but an impression. yesterday was my third time trying this dram, I was still trying to understand what to make of it. First impression was incredibly good but I was still a bit skeptical about how young it was... But now it's so clear. This whisky is simply delicious. You can taste the quality casks... their spirit is flawless too. very wine influenced for those who like it, very sweet, but in the best way possible and very balanced with the meaty, smoky elements. The nail on the coffin was trying the Port Charlotte SYC (a 10y) after this... I really like Port Charlotte but the AD/ is so well made that the PC felt like a downgrade. Ardnamurchan is the real deal.

Color: dark gold. Nose: dates, yoghurt, a bit of smoke, peat, cherries, tea, bacon, green apples, tobacco, wrapping paper, sugar-coated cranberries, champignon mushrooms, cocoa powder, allspice, rum baba, honey, peaches, ripe pears, lemon zest, lychees, oak cask. Tons of nuances. Clear sweet wine influence. With water: more peat, plus chocolate and even some carrots. Taste: redcurrants, strawberries, honey, cocoa, dates, cinnamon, chocolate, black pepper, limes, green apples, salt, lingonberries. Interesting, quite sweet though not overly so, but also a bit hot. Water reduces the heat, sweetness stays. Finish: redcurrants, spice, honey, plums, tobacco, clove, dates, lemon zest, smoke, salt, licorice. Conclusion: a quality Ardnamurchan with a very detailed nose, slightly too sweet on the palate for my taste. They say it's nearly a 7YO whisky, finished for 2 years in Madeira casks. I like it. 85/100 with water.

All settings are cranked up to max! Everything is very thick and intense! This whisky is incredibly pleasant to drink and enjoy without thinking about the subtleties and details. The taste reveals youth, but only through its beer connotation. 21 22 22 21

Really nice for such a young and relatively inexpensive whisky. I can recognize Ardnamurchan—not blind tasting—but the cask doesn't iron out the distillate. Nevertheless, I have a very nice dark fruity sweetness and woodiness from the Madeira barrel. I like it.

Ardnamurchan AD/2018 showcases the distillery's modern house style exceptionally well. The combination of peated and unpeated spirit creates a whisky that is approachable yet complex, with layers of sweet malt, coastal freshness, citrus, and restrained smoke. Young in age but remarkably mature in character, it demonstrates outstanding cask management and spirit quality.

Hm, very hot for 52%, and the meatiness of Madeira wood is missing. Water helps, still you do not get the vibes you might be looking for.

Not an easy dram, but the pieces slowly fit together with some air and patience. Despite some rough edges, the madeira finish works well in the end. It really adds to the young Ardnamurchan spirit instead of obliterating it.

A fresh spiciness develops with turmeric, nutmeg and some cacao, followed by some tangerines and pineapple. It's quite metallic and a bit sulphurous too. And no trace of the subtle peat that characterises Ardnamurchan! Time and a drop of water eases this unconventional nose a bit. |

Warm on the nose, slightly alcoholic with spicy notes. Fruity, think orange, marmalade, but with lovely acidity, dried fruits, raisin, sultanas. Notes of brown sugar, but also a certain freshness, slightly coastal. After adding a little water—because it doesn't need much—vinous notes emerge. It's more reminiscent of a dry Madaira on the nose, definitely not a boal. The mouthfeel is slightly warm in the mouth with a nice balance of sweet, sour, and salty notes. The finish is medium for me, certainly not long. Still, price-wise, another lovely whisky from Ardnamurchan. I'm a fan.

A nose that burns slightly. If you hold it in longer, it still burns, but then sulfur is added. And a hint of Maggi seasoning, like Madeira might taste. But the flavor is a bit like bourbon barrel, lots of alcohol, and a lot of spice. Ardnamurchan is overpowered.
