В аромате — солёная морская свежесть, кожа, табак, изюм, чернослив, инжир, кофе и жареные орехи, поверх тёмного шоколада и золы; выдержка в хересе даёт тёмную сладость, а торфяной дым нарастает постепенно, от глотка к глотку. Во вкусе доминируют пряности (тимьян, тархун, майоран, белый перец), сухая древесина, кожа и лакрица, сменяющиеся сухофруктами, апельсином, вишней и молочным шоколадом; послевкусие среднее-долгое, землистое, с золой, сажей, торфом и возвращающейся горечью дуба, но с последним словом за шоколадом и кофе. Хвалят маслянистую текстуру, сбалансированность хереса со спиртом и типичный для Bowmore торф; критикуют навязчивую цветочную ноту фиалки и лаванды, а также приторную дубовую горечь.
Оценки в целом согласованы (85–93), но с заметным расхождением по акцентам: опытные ревьюеры сдержаннее (85–88 у большинства) и разочарованы несоответствием цены и хайпа, а также слабым эффектом от первого налива Pedro Ximénez и «спотыкающимся» переходом от острого аромата к вкусу; менее опытные ставят выше (89–92) и воспринимают цветочность и баланс торфа с хересом как достоинство, а не изъян.

Actually quite tasty if you like the violet taste, otherwise it has everything a good sherry whisky needs

Certainly a decent Bowmore, but it left me a bit disappointed, I expected more after the hype, and the amount of money you need to put down for this one. Also I wonder about the "first-fill Pedro Ximenez", I would have expected way more effect.

coastal bowmore peat, red fruits, milk chocolate, toffee, sherry oak, but also some odd flower notes (rose/lavender) that kind of spoil it a bit

Aston Martin At the end of last year, Bowmore entered into a partnership with Aston Martin, the well-known British car brand. The series consists of a 10-year-old in a green box, a 15-year-old in a white box and an 18-year-old in a blue box and then this 21-year-old Masters Selection in a luxury package. Looks good and may taste fine, but when the original retail price of about 300 EUR results in not appearing on the shelf of the store and immediately ending up in the auction for double the price, then there is no fun to be had. Fortunately, my buddy Manny was able to help me with a sample, so that I can still taste this beautiful release. The nose is darkly sweet and rich. Quite aromatic on raisins and coffee, with a touch of ashes that pops out. Furthermore, some blood orange and mint, hazelnuts, dry wood and chewing tobacco. Surprisingly soft for this ABV. Very nice nose, I must say. Great mouthfeel. The fruit now leads with orange and plums in the lead, followed by dried red fruits and nuts. The sherry is nicely balanced with the spirit. Slightly mineral, touch of moulded wood, ashes again, but at the same time deliciously sweet. Milk chocolate, cherry liqueur and a soft, pleasant bitterness. The smoke development starts somewhat slowly, but grows with each sip. The finish is long, with a lot of earthy notes and peat, ashes and even some soot. But the chocolate and coffee get the last word. Very beautiful Bowmore that digested its long stay in the sherry casks well. Thank you for the sample, Manny!

After a sharp nose it bends a bit on the palate and in the finish, otherwise the 90 points would have been awarded without any difficulty. Amazing to come across a note of violet/lavender in a comparatively recent bottling from Bowmore.

The official flavor description fits quite well. The peat notes typical of Bowmore also combine well with the sherry casks. Gets better with every sip, may need some time to develop. 91-100 – whisky heaven, best stuff
