The whisky is something special, a lot of flavors are being combined in a excellent way without a dominating taste. It is delicious in a lot of ways, but to like the whisky you have to like the more complex flavors and the smokey undertone.

The first sip you take is a full mouthful of spice, many flavors gradually diminishing after which the clear notes emerge. These notes are (as indicated on the box) oranges, raisins, sweet apricot with forms of slightly creamy vanilla. The flavors follow each other smoothly, there is a pleasant pace between the flavors without one dominating the other or not being present in the overall picture. The smoky undertone forms a coherent whole, where every sip is a pleasure while you discover new flavors within the whisky.

Quick hit review. No age statement and a hefty price tag - let's see if Triskelion can deliver. On the nose, I get ripe peaches, baked apples and dry coal smoke, rounded off by hints of juniper and peppercorn. Not bad. Zesty citrus fruits, rich oak spices and typical Highland Park peatiness dominate the taste, it is quite aromatic and not very sweet. The slightly dry finish is marked by orange zest, almonds and ash. It started out promising but fell a bit short of expectations afterwards. RATING: 3.5/5.0 stars ≙ 84 pts → ABOVE AVERAGE

Good, rather refined Highland Park, striking a much better balance of classic HP notes. Orange peel, subtle peat, gentle sherry notes and oak spice. Three types of casks so a bit for everyone. Pricey though.

Triskelion is a well-known symbol "in the form of three radially symmetric circular arcs, open spirals, interlaced triangles, knot patterns, human legs or other triple forms." A triskelion or triskele is a motif of a triple spiral exhibiting rotational symmetry. The spiral design can be based on interlocking Archimedean spirals, or represent three bent human legs.

Nose: Apricot, apple, sherry-nutty, honey and some vanilla, very pleasant and promising, nice light fruits with floral spring notes, in the background an interesting dark, somewhat mineral, note with a slight acidity I like the nose very much. Really exciting and complex. Taste: Oh no, it falls off in taste. What a water! Oh dear! HP, what's the point? Even though the nose was so fine, the taste is terribly bland. A little honey goes with light spice, nuts and watery forest berry thinning juice. There is a noticeable lack of power in taste. finish: The finish and the aftertaste is actually boring. Warm tap water with minimally diluted whisky taste. Conclusion / points: After the excellent nose, the big disappointment. I don't need it in the glass anymore. 83/100 (without a nose my judgment (for a HP) would be devastating !!)

an (over) expensive HP that needs a lot of time to unfold - air is good for whisky. Pleasant on the nose, without an ostensibly clearly defined aroma, but very well balanced between sweetness, fruit and sherry tones. But that is precisely why that makes it so "weak" in my eyes, it is "arbitrary", "interchangeable", nothing to be remembered. Quite complex in taste: there is always something new to find; But even here nothing remains in the head in terms of taste. The finish ... well, could be longer. Don't get it wrong: the Triskelion is not bad (especially in the nose and in the taste), but still doesn't knock you off your feet - for around € 170-190, in my opinion, it is clearly too expensive for this whisky. Vlt. are my expectations simply too high in this price segment? What would I be willing to pay right now? In terms of price, * I * would set this malt somewhere between 80 and a maximum of 100 euros. Yes, yes, price increases everywhere, etc., may be yes, but this malt is not worth more in my eyes. Maybe only one master blender should have said what's in there, but three master blenders don't make the whisky three times as good. Sorry HP, my opinion (and that as an HP fan, * shaking your head *). it has to be retested after a certain period of time; currently: 83/100; Post-test: I had originally pushed it to the day form, but the post-test (2 months later) brought practically the same thing: I stay at 83/100 [86 - 82 = good whisky -> get a second bottle? Maybe ... in this case: no, not at this price; @ Highland Park: brings this malt out 100 euros cheaper, then I could think again about the PLV and more points, but so ... boy, boy, what were you thinking?] Tip: get a sample first!

initially minimal smoke (typical HP heather character), then a slight sweetness of acacia honey, caramel and vanilla. Something fruity is added, goes in the direction of light fruits / stone fruits; every now and then something fresh and citrus pops up, which tends towards orange. Far in the background, a light sherry character with raisins and red dried fruits. Over time, a floral aroma will appear. Overall very balanced, not a dominant note - but it also seems a bit closed. Post-test: the first grades remain; a good 30 minutes of air to breathe: some brown sugar still arrives in the nose. Apricot aroma also comes through. Eminently fruity.

Very soft at the start and a creamy-oily mouthfeel sets in (positive for me). There is a slight smoky note. Dark chocolate with cinnamon and some marzipan is also there. A little oak is added - but remains rather discreetly in the background. With the second sip, significantly more fruit (tendency to light-colored fruit, although something sherry-like always flashes) and sweeter. With the third sip, nut flavors come through stronger (for me it goes towards almonds). Follow-up test: I'll stick with my notes - essentially nothing has changed.

some oak and sherry notes remain in the finish for a medium to long time. The sweetness becomes less, but something earthy / tannic remains on the tongue. More could have come ... What a shame. Follow-up test: nothing new and surprising here either.

It is not very clear why some people rate him highly. The most common NAS release. Not particularly outstanding. Beautiful bottle and box + collab story. The taste and aroma are poor. Considering the price, we immediately understand that we are faced with a typical example of a marketing trap. Don't fall into it!

An interesting release, but the smokiness is felt only on the aftertaste. Water reveals the finish, but kills smell and taste.
